Here is an update on the MegaMan covers that I've been working on.

This is a Imandix mock up of the spines for you to peruse.

I'll post pics of the final covers later today.

Unless you want them now?

I really like the idea of speading the classic series name among all six titles, but I think that the logo difference between all six games should be updated to reflect the standardized modern Megaman logo. Would you mind doing an alternitve version like that? Otherwise, fantasic spines lumberjack. I'm very impressed with your hard work.

I need a good raw of that logo. I haven't been able to find a satisfactory version on my own.

Here are the finished versions. Thanks to Satoshi for the back text (although I did make some edits for conciseness and for size.)

Remarkable job. It's great to see you used my discriptions, though it is slightly dissipointing you had to reword and remove sections of my write ups. Ah well. As for the logo, I can provide you with something you should be able to use. I'll upload it here tomorrow sometime. I like what you did with the backs bringing the six robot masters around the stage select screen for each of the games. Still though, the covers leave  something to be desired. They dont look bad, they just look...tacked on. In anycase, great stuff, look for my update soon, cheers.

Getting standardized spines would be tough since you'd have to add the number as well.  You have to practically draw it yourself.

...unless there's a Mega Man font out there.  argh, I knew I saw one somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it.

I also notice some spines have the "TM" and some don't.  Be sure to add those for consistency.

Not exactly.  Those are the fonts for the in-game text.  Might work for the back description..but we do need a font of one of the Mega Man logos..preferably the one lumberjack has plastered on the front of them all.

I think the best way to impove the spines is to simply remove the numbers completely and put a standardized Megaman logo and have the very bottom represent the number in another standarized box like lumberjack currently has. I think that a small screenshot of some defining boss should be present just above to illistrate each title: for instance, Megaman 1 put the Rock Monster fight, Megaman 2 Wily Alien, Megaman 3 Gamma, Megaman 4 Casscok, Megaman 5 Darkman, Megaman 6 Dr. Wily.

OK guys, I could use some help here. I have been working on a cover for the European version of Mega Man, but I'm getting nowhere with covering up severe scratches on an important part of the cover: Dr.Wily's head :).

I know the procedure involved, but making effective use of the clone tool is something of an art in itself, and as it stands I currently suck at it, badly. :)

Here is the part I'm talking about:

Here is the raw of the frontcover:

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/raw/Dante_Ali.retail.raw_nes_nes-megaman-front-notblurred_eu.jpg

And here is a touched-up version:

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/raw/Dante_Ali.retail.raw_nes_nes-megaman-front_eu.jpg

DPI is 600. As you can see,  I have already cleaned up the lower part of the cover - I replaced the worn Mattel and Nintendo logos with fresh SVG ones and cleaned up the background.

I will upload the back cover once some kind soul has offered some much needed advice on this one.

My... God... Well, it does look better than the US one i guess...

Heheh... you should see the Mega Man 2 cover. Mega Man looks like a bizarre cross between He-Man and some sort of cyborg.

BTW, I'm currently working on the EU Mega Man 3 cover. Here's a snap of the front:

It still needs some work, but nothing I can't handle.

Made some more progress... might release the finished one tomorrow.

UPDATE:

Cleaned up the scratched screenshot by reconstructing the sequence using sprite rips and screenshots from an emulator without the sprites layer. I might do the same to the remaining 2 screenshots for consistency.

UPDATE 2:

Cleaned up screenshot 2. Only one more to go.

After this one, I'll probably do a Mega Man 2 EU cover.
