and the ones with the spines "Custom Covers".

I agree with thiis naming change, altough I'd use 3 tier classification:

Retail: The ones that don't have our spine logo.
Alternate: Covers that have our spine logo.
Custom: Covers that have custom artwork.
The next NoNo. We agreed quite a long time ago when snow wanted us to streamline our cover descriptor naming that we only use two terms for covers Retail or Custom. This describes everything you need. Any other descriptor would again just clutter our database and is honestly useless anyway because what info do you need? If it is retail or custom that's all.

OK.

How about then calling the covers like the 2 Zombie nations both retail as they both use retail artwork, and the covers that use totally custom artwork, like that one Gauntlet cover or the realistic mario covers, get called custom.

Retail = uses the artwork which was on the, guess iiiiiiittttttt, retail box in a manner which resembles the original box. So this in my book clearly defines what is retail for each region doesn't it? No need to discuss it.
Custom = Everything else.

Easy isn't it?

When did we decide that badchad?

You know this isn't a kind of a one man can decide anything show especially regarding cover naming conventions and stuff. Any change in things seen on the main page have to be discussed with ALL cover admins! you know this is like saying. Hell from now on I'll upload all snes covers not under snes_..... but under sns_......! Seems like minor thing but completely destroys database consistency.

This said I'm actually a supporter of the idea of calling only true retail artwork covers retail at least for the NES world. On the other hand we than need someone who changes ALL of the previous posted nes covers from retail to custom.

You wanna do that badchad? Seems like you just raised your hand didn't you?

I dont think theres any reason to get all worked up. I didnt think that what I was doing here was harmfully altering. Its not like Ive been on a rampage changing everything as I see fit. All Ive been doing is uploading only true retail covers as "Retail" and the others as custom. And thats only the covers that I have uplaoded lately. And seeing as how I normally include both versions, I dont see any reason to file them both as "Retail". You clearly just said you support my idea so Im not sure why it sounds like I just made a huge mistake here. Seemed more like common sense...

Plus, I figured that as we add more full retail covers in the NES section (since we have barely any right now) we could change the custom retails at the same time rather than changing them all now. It seems like weve slowly been picking up more and more on full retail covers lately too. But I mean sure, If what Im doing here is going to completely destroy our NES database then I guess Ill start changing myself bit by bit everyday...

Still this is about doing things only when discussed with all other admins. We got our lair for this. We never decide any changes without consulting the others.

Still I support the idea and still we have to change all our old covers with the spine from retail to custom and still I am not 1000% happy.

Oh hey look, there's that silly German again, sucking the fun out of a simple afternoon hobby like it's supposed to cure herpes. Thanks for making us roll our eyes in unison as always and reminding me why I barely check back here.

Sorry to disappoint but I am no german. Hope I didn't make you cry.  ::)

People should be strong enough to stand against my oppinion. If not then well I have no remorse and as it seems you know how to use a door.  ;D

I think badchad is strong enough by the way.

Donald Duck (Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular)

Quick Question! I know we usually file famicom games under their US region name, but I thought Id ask about this one. Im wondering if this should be filed under Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular or maybe on its own under Donald Duck. I guess Im only asking since it seems so odd to have a Donald Duck cover filed under Snoopy. How the hell did that conversion end up anyway... :D

If there is an alteration to the game (besides the title or text) then I would file it under the Japanese game. Since the sprites are far different representing different cartoon characters it wouldn't really make sense to file it under snoopy. Kind of like how we don't file Doki Doki Panic under Super Mario Bros 2 or how we have Turrican and Universal Soldier for genesis separate. (yes i realize they are for different consoles but i was trying to think of something).

Ok cool. Thats why I thought Id ask.

My guess is when Kemco brought this over to the US they probably had to change anything Donald Duck related since Capcom had rights to Disney back then.

Same thing they did with the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle series:

US------------------------------------------------ Japan
Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle (NES) -------- Roger Rabbit (FDS) (totally different than the US RR)
Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle (GB) ---------- Mickey Mouse
Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle II -------------- Mickey Mouse II / Mickey Mouse part 1 in PAL-land
Kid Klown in Knight Mayor World (NES) Mickey Mouse III (FC)
Real Ghostbusters (GB) ------------------- Mickey Mouse IV / Garfield in PAL-land
Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands ------------- Mickey Mouse V

it's more a greeting than a statement, but is a form of respect and used sometimes as farewell or greeting.  In other words "chill, relax, etc"

and also

Can anyone put together a Nintendo World Championships 1990 Reproduction cart UGC from these scans of the box that it comes from.

Back:

Note the box is only as big as the nes cart so it may require some empty blue space.

Wanted a label varient to tell the teal label smb/duck hunt from the white striped one.  Did research, and found it was part of the action set.  Being that it didn't have a box, I used the previous one on the site as a template. Enjoy!
