The Werewolf cover definitely needs work, as the logo and objects can be easily made in higher definition. The art itself also needs some color correction. It's usually not advisable to use magic wand to cut out objects cause it leaves rough edges. The Isolated Warrior cover needs extensive work. Some text is completely unintelligible.

(I'll send that template to you later once I finished some more covers and make some adjustments to the psd itself that I forgot to save)

Oh I definetly know that and I have no intentions on submitting them to the site :D Thats why I put these in my mediafire account, I stick everything I know wont make it on the the site in there. These are just temporary covers untill something better comes along.

And thanks, that template will help.

Thank you, since you are scanning and helping out, feel free to let me know what covers you need so i can do them for you

Here you go man, front/back/side scans of the 4 US Zelda covers

The only cover I need at the moment is Sega Genesis "Marsupilami"... and I don't think anyone has scans of it.  This will probably change if UGCs ever come back in stock...

Did you resize and compress them? They have jpeg artifacting and the resolution is low for being a raw scan.

Do you have the raw 300-600DPI scan? Generally when working with raws they should be saved in highest res and as lossless quality as possible so you can work with them up close.

I scanned them at 300 dpi and the only compression would have been when I zipped the folder.  I could try scanning them at a higher resolution.

Also, did you just need the covers or do you need the back and side too?

600dpi is usually best. And normally we flatten the boxes when we scan them to get every side of the box and to ensure the best/flattest scan possible.

600dpi is usually best. And normally we flatten the boxes and put sth heavy on them like big books when we scan them to get every side of the box and to ensure the best/flattest scan possible.

Thats a good suggestion too! Altho I usually just use my own weight and push down on the scanner while its scanning.

Only need the fronts, good sir.

Try scanning them at 600DPI and if possible on your scanner, either save them as PNG or the highest quality JPEG.

Heres something a little different. Figured this was the best place to post it.

Reference: http://pineconeattack.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/startropicsletter.jpg

If anyone is aware, Star Tropics for the NES was originally packaged with a letter to Mike from his uncle printed on a special parchment type of paper. At a certain point in the game, you would be hinted by your uncle to dip the letter in water which would then reveal a hidden message with the code "747" required to activate the Sub-C to escape the island and finish the game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarTropics

I decided to recreate it from scratch to make my copy feel a little more complete. I included the secret message exactly where it would appear in a very light grey text just visible enough to read to keep the hidden feeling. The size of the letter is just the same as a standard peice of printing paper so it should fit just fine if your printer is capable of getting a little closer to the edges.

Would we have any interest hosting something like this? :)

It's part of the packaging of the original game so I don't see why it shouldn't be posted here. Like a label or pack in map, as long as it is part of the original packaging.

StarTropics and its infamous letter always makes me think back to the days when video rental stores started using those Permastruct laminated instruction cards instead of giving the manuals out with the games (likely because the manuals got destroyed within the first few rentals).  Imagine what a kick in the sack it must have been to rent StarTropics and get stuck in that one place because you don't have the letter.  Guess that's what Nintendo's 1-900 game counselor hotline was for.

Not just the phone number. (According to Wikipedia) Nintendo Power go so many letters about that one part in the game, they made a mini guide for it in their magazine.

That whole letter thing is a really neat aspect and I kinda wish other people would do it. Not all the time, but every once in a while, throw in that little extra to make your game special.
