I had a very clear vision in mind when creating all of my templates.  Every system has a very different template because i absolutely DO NOT want them to look like one another.  Its very unoriginal & unimaginative to have a "one template fits all" mentality ... trust me they'll look like garbage if we do this.  Since I created the template I'd like it not to change ... at all.  I created the readme file for this specific purpose.

I'm definitely going to have to side with Shenske on this one.

The entire reason for the vertical SNES/N64 templates is because the original art was horizontal. (The art was short and wide.) NES covers were originally made vertically, (tall and skinny) like how we print them out right now. We have a vertical retail cover template made by Shenske, and it's perfect. It fits the original art with little to no modification, because they are both already vertical. I don't see what's so confusing about that. It's already vertical. I think adding any more "standardizing" to the NES cover spines would be superfluous. I think the covers look perfect as they are.

I understand that perfectly fine, and I don't have any issue with the standard covers; it was just a personal project because, different from your's and shenske's point of view (as he stated earlier), I prefer all of my covers to look similar, especially those within the same series.  I'm making these ones to match the SNES/N64 covers, just as I've converted my PS1 games to look like the PS2 games, and have adjusted all the handhelds to have the same style between the GBA/DS/GG/etc, and as I posted before in the Saturn thread, I've adjusted that for my self use as well.  Again, I don't mean any disrespect, and I completely understand the other side of this view as well; I just wanted to explain the reasoning behind it, and will let it fade out now.

The cover guru's are like a mother bear, and the templates like their cubs, mess with her cubs and your going to get mauled. :D

Im still confused.. there is vertical NES art, why isn't there a need for a vertical NES template...

...but... there... is... a... huge... need... for... vertical... nes... co...????

I understand that the N64 and SNES are originally horizontal, however, the fact remains that even though every NES game is vertical, so I'm leaving this one up to a typo.  There is no need for a horizontal nes template as that just sounds rediculous.  I already hate the horizontal cases to begin with, so to add custom horizontal nes cases would be overkill IMO.

I understand that the spines are not uniform, as I sometimes wish that we could someday fix that up, but already having the N64 and SNES with black spines is getting pretty bland.  Maybe if it was one solid color, however I dont know how the entire NES section can resolve on one color spine theme, as SNES was clearly black and the N64 has both Purple and Green.  I learned to say the hell with it to the NES games, because I would rather use a UGC than the cardboard box that has already deteriorated.
