Okay I took a look at all of your covers lumberjack.

Hmmm. How should I put it? I needed to use half of my precious free day to tidy some of them up for publishing on the site. You know I always tell everyone quality over quantity!

Because you are an old time member and in my oppinion respectable person and cover creator I'll go into detail:

Wall Street Kid = unclean back + front
Three Stoges = unclean Stooges front and back
Tiger Heli = blurred back, especially screenshots
Bungling Bay = unclean
Infiltrator = blurred + unclean
Galaga = unclean (not too bad but had no time left)
Dragon's Lair = many small dirt spots / dots
Cool World = unclean
Bugs Bunny = wrong dimensions of front and back?
Dragonstrike = blurry front, unclean

You see it is all just because of unclean stuff.... If you had invested much more time per cover they would have been nice.

Even the other ones which will get published soon needed some additional cleaning, sharpening, etc. but not as extensive as the aformentioned.

As I said quality control has become much more strict than two years ago. Covers by me from these times should also be redone no question and I impose those strict quality guidelines on everyone! Me and all the others I check covers from!

Please invest the time needed to make the covers perfect!!!! I know you are more than capable of that!

Thanks Seb

I'm bit afraid to ask this, but could the Dynablaster cover on the site: http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=11780 be bit redone?
I mean the front image is grainy. Would someone either repaint the front cover or atleast soften it so it not so grainy?
I lack totally the skill to do it myself.  :)

Also would someone remove the German text from the front or replace it with Englisk one.

[Runs away before getting mawled]  ;D

What do you mean grainy? This cover was done by me from my personal scans @600dpi/derasterized and took me hours to complete. Maybe you should wear your glasses? There is a difference between sth being grainy(which means dotted or unclean) and sharp!

This cover is near pefect. The only thing I'd change maybe is making all the Bombermans heads and feets and other plains one solid color which I refrained from partially cause on the original box it looks the exact same way as on the cover.

Ah, so basically, you have to reproduce the entire cover from scratch to pass muster these days. Some of those took days to work on. I guess this place just passed me by.

Ahhh come on you know that's not the case. We can talk over pm if you want about details what I mean.

The unsharpness by the way is mostly because of the box being not 100% flat when scanned so not your fault BUT the unclean spots, and there were many of them on some covers, can be fixed by tedious but neccessary cleaning work with the clone stamp/spot healing brush....

You know it'S nothing against you personal but I have to make the same qual measurements on all cover creators new or oldtimers a like!

Sorry my English is not perfect, but:
Quote
making all the Bombermans heads and feets and other plains one solid color
This was what I meant by grainy, as made by visible spots.

Quote
atleast soften
With this I meant exactly the same.

Maybe not one solid color, Solid color with sliding toning without visible spots.

Did not want to insult, no disrespect meant!  ;)

Sidenote question, tik: Will this standard ever eventually be used to go over older covers, already posted, to bring them up to the new code? I ask because, to be honest, the differences in quality between some of the old stuff and what passes the muster now are pretty evident; and the effect is incongruous...  :-[

The old versions will be replaced when scans for better versions are available and someone makes them.

Anonymity is right on this one although he obviously doesn't understand what I'm telling him about the Bomberman 2 cover.... *sigh*

Another factor is that there are really many many older covers which should be reworked and that would be pretty time consuming to go through all of them and reworking them or deleting them if they are unfixable. So I think we decided to leave them until someone comes along and makes new version which then replaces the old one.

I hopw that this project will last for years to come so we have plenty of time to make our databse bigger and better everyday.

The ultimate goal can only be to have all the covers for all games for all our listed systems in top notch versions on our site. ;D

The problem is, is that if there is a cover already hosted... contributors decide not to redo a cover that is already up.  I'm still ranting about the N64 section if anyone has followed along with the whole schpeel.  If it is not hosted, then there is more incentive to create a cover.  If it is not accepted, more incentive to clean it and upload again

I understand that your saying that the your scans were high quality, and that the grainy look is like original and you purposly left it like that, right?

What I try to say is that it still looks like the cover would be a quick whip up from mediocre scans (which I know it is not!!!), and I'd like a version of the cover where the Bombermen would look less like quick spraypaint job, and the coloring would be closer the look/quality of SNES counterparts, but still shape of NES ones. Especially the blue and green parts look grainy/spotty.

OK?! ;D

Glad to see you back Lumberjack!

Awesome job on the NES covers, definitely knocked out a good bit of my request list.

Exactly. Here's a perfect example: Yesterday I noticed that I had only 1 Players Choice GameCube game in my collection: Viewtifull Joe. Well, seeing as I'm not really a fan of 'Greatest Hits'-esque covers I thought "Let's see if TCP has the original NTSC cover." Well we do, but it's faded and dirty, it's i.e. a raw scan provided by Snowcone back in the day. I'm glad the cover was provided but, IMO that's a perfect case of an old cover that should be cleaned and color-corrected. I've found a bit of a better version @ CoverGalaxy (which was probably based on Snowcone's raw), but the point being made is once something is already up on the site it is assumed to be up to snuff, and so as said, disincentivizes ppl from re-upping new versions...  :(

This shows me that you don't know a bit what you're talking about. A quick mock up of this cover would have looked a tiny weeny itsy bisty different.... ::)
