I use an HP 3970 which works fine. (its old, but I am sure they make something comparable even cheaper)
Our covers are 300 dpi resolution, which I believe any modern scanner will do. Some believe scanning at 600 dpi makes editing easier, then resize to 300dpi with your editing software.

Bottom line is, you can get one (new) for under $100 that will do the job.

Hy!

I use a canonscan LIDE 70 and am pretty satisfied with the quality of my scans...

I never tried to actually scan the raws at 600dpi for editing... Hmmm.... Maybe I should....

A yes the scanner retails for around 70 Euro at least in Austria!

There are some people that are very particular about their scans and set the standards for the rest of us (TheValeman).
I am not gonna say who (TheValeman), but they know who they are.  ;D

I saw this one one Walmart.com for only 50 bucks.

Would this be a good one, or am I being too cheap?  ;D

I think that one would work fine....
the specs say: 1200 x 2400 dpi Hardware

That should be more than enough.
Best thing about Wally World, take it home, try it out and if it does not do the trick, take it back.

Wally World ;D

To say it with Clark Griswold:
"This is no longer a vacation. It's a quest. It's a quest for fun. I'm gonna have fun and you're gonna have fun. We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our godamn smiles. You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of you're assholes!"

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I guess TheValeman's joking habits rubbed off on me :)

...and now, back to topic everyone!

Yeah we have. I heard in some of the bigger cities they even have these things in all kinds of colors. But I think it's just a myth. And I don't want to bring it up for discussion in our village's gatherings. I almost got send into exile by our chieftain for asking about this electricity thingy :)

So...what's your #1 Christmas movie? :)

I am old enough that I was in the army stationed in Germany when 'Star Wars' was released and the first time I saw it was in a German theater....   :)

I have the same one! But make sure to check "descreen" option in the scanner settings. It gets ridd off the offset printing artifact on the image! Huge image quality improvement!!!! Trust me. All of you scanerwannabees, this scanner is all you'll ever need if you are on the budget! I love mine. Had it for a long time. Too bad Canon hasn't updated the drivers.
