I'm not going to dismiss it yet.

It seems to do what the Wii Remote does, except better. (The glowing ball tracks Z Plane movement much more efficiently than the Wii Remote, for example.)

The current line-up of games that support it is small, but not bad. (LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM 4, Resident Evil 5)

I certainly won't be buying it day-one, but I will keep an eye on it. I really hope we'll be seeing mouse-based games like RTSs and FPSs finally shine on the PS3 with this controller.

And you can use it as a torch light too.

I mean come on who doesn't want to get a RGB flashlight for just under 100 Dollars (which means just under 100 Euros here in euope)!

Jokes aside I really am not too impressed by what I've seen in the Videos. I'm also worrying that such a big light in front of the controller could be really annoying when playing in a dark room (unless you can turn it off). ;)

I'm not so keen on the idea right now. Two motion controllers ($100) per person + playstation eye ($40). So if I wanted to be to have enough controllers for 4 players it would cost me $440 ... Uhh no thanks. Not to mention it would cost $460 to buy the equivalent for the wii ... With the entire wii console and wii motion plus for each!!! (system-$200, 3 wiimotes-$120, 3 nunchucks-$60, 4 wii motion plus-$80)

I feel the pricepoint is way too high when you figure in controllers for everyone. Sony has been pretty good about charging obtuse amounts of money for their stuff (which I usually end up buying anyway  :P )

  • ...and that's the bottom line
If Playstation Move can turn Resident Evil 5 into Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition, I'll hand my wallet over to Sony with a smile on my face :)

What amazes me is just how blatant of a rip-off it is.  It's even got it's version of a nunchuk.  And the price point to equip it for four players (eight Moves) is nuts.

Natal is at least creative, I'm looking forward to that one.

I'll keep my eye on it, but unless they release a real killer app for it I don't think I'll ever buy it.
When I say the promo pics of the controller all I could think of was this:

Sony really did rip off Nintendo. At least Microsoft is trying something different.

I will give Sony credit for one thing, Wireless nunchuck (or Sub-Controller as they like to call it) I wish Nintendo would release a wireless nunchuck, I'm sick of getting hit in the face with the damn cord.

My prediction for this.... Tons of Wii Ports with original content only coming from Sony and Konami.

The orb is what the Eye focuses on to track it, so turning it off wouldn't be too useful.

At least this can be played in a dark room, even if you do have a glowing orb on the end of your controller. Natal would be useless in the dark [I'm talking proper dark, like a good home theatre room should be] because it wouldn't be able to see anything.

Unless it's got a night-vision mode which I haven't read about yet.

Eh... Natal isn't THAT creative. It's just taking the concept of the EyeToy a little bit further.

More over, all they've got coming to Natal thus far is Ricochet, Paint Party, Milo, and Fable III. Meanwhile, The Move has 17 brand-new games announced for it (22 if you include pre-existing titles that will be receiving Move support), including some big core titles like SOCOM 4, Ape Escape, and Echochrome 2. Not bad, considering it didn't even have a name a week ago.

I wish I could show you guys the OPM demo disc Vol. 80 that had Killzone on it.  I own it, but only God knows where my Eyetoy is...

Quote
The official monthly PlayStation Underground demo disc, included in the Official PlayStation Magazine (US).

PLAYABLE :: Terminator 3: Redemption, Fight Night 2004, Rainbow Six 3, Cy Girls, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, EyeToy tech demos

VIDEO :: Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, Hitman: Contracts, Alias, All-Star Baseball 2005

FEATURES :: EyeToy: Groove (Inside the Groove), Gamer Profile (Robin Wilson, lead singer of Gin Blossoms); Gran Turismo 4 (Track GT4 - SEMA - GT Awards; SEMA - Follow a Judge)

REPLAY :: The Simpsons Hit & Run (cool move); Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (cool move); Kill Switch (save file); Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (save file)

Release Date: May 01, 2004
Exclusively on: PlayStation 2

Basically... on the PLAYABLE :: EyeToy tech demos, this controller is a extension to what they had 6 years ago, but never implemented.  So in a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY *gasps for breath*... VERY VERY VERY small way, Sony did have the idea first.  Again though, in a VERY VERY VERY small way.

I do have the demo  8), but I have no time to record it.

--------------------------------------

To explain a little better, within the demo, there is a little "Magic Wand" game/tech demo that makes the user grab a bright color ball, stick it onto a shaft, and if you flick it, then you cast a spell.  However, I never had a bright color ball hanging around... so I stored it for later use when I got a ball.  You all have no idea how surprised I was when I found this demo inside one of my Eyetoy Play 1's that were stored in storage  ::)

----------------------------------EDIT AGAIN------------------

Well, this kills PlayStation Move:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/12/playstation-move-will-offer-limited-four-player-support/

For any game that uses either two Move controllers or both a controller and a sub-controller, it is a TWO PLAYER SYSTEM.  The maximum number of these devices the PlayStation can connect to at a time, is four, including sub-controllers in that count.

And the Wii once again proved it's superiority.

Fireware updates. Simple as that, really. I'd also think it's not great to be acting like anything is set in stone yet, considering it hasn't released yet. Besides, I can only see that being a big affect on party games, and shouldn't most party games be simple enough that you'd only need to use one remote at a time?

Personally, I don't use the PS3 for local multiplayer - I use it for online multiplayer. I doubt this info would really affect that.

Too many people are expecting this to be a substitute for the Wii, when you should be looking at it as an enhancement for the PS3.I don't know if I'll get the Move... but if I do, I won't be getting rid of my Wii because of it.

I'm not sure it is that easy to increase the maximum number of bluetooth connections. I'd imagine there's some level of hardware limitation there somewhere, rather than just an arbitrary firmware limit.
