Got a few more Super Famicom RAW scans to upload:

Rockman X

Super Mario World

More raw scans are on the way from me... still going through the mass amount of boxes in the closet :)

I'll upload the SFC covers right now though.

Everyone who is creating finished SNES covers ought to check out this thread: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=433.0

For any NTSC style covers, new ones probably ought to use Mooky's new template.

The problem with an SNES template is that not all SNES covers use the same design. The copyrights, code in the corner of the back cover, and the Nintendo/developer/publisher logos/seals on the front are usually different on every cover.

So you'll choose blurry over the seal being 5mm to the left?

Where did I say I'd choose blurry? Go download any of my covers and tell me if they're blurry.

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/raw/
Look at the scans of Dracula X (The front scan):
Compare that cover to the Super Mario World scan. The grey logo is smaller on Castlevania and in a different area. The official seal is also on the top right for Castlevania and the bottom left for Mario. It's a lot more than a 5mm difference.

Ok, here is my 2 cents worth. Why mess with a proven formula?? I totally think a SNES Templete would just be more trouble then it's worth... I think the covers here are great the way they are. Then again, Im new here so maybe I shouldn't run my mouth, but I was always tought, if something isn't broken, don't fix it.

Arcades Greatist Hits (Williams) uploaded. Lord of the Rings and Madden 98 coming soon. I am also uploading what should be better scans of Super ESB and Aladdin.

Thanks to everyone that works on these raw scans. If I ever do find a box for Smartball, I know where to go.

The scans that I re-uploaded without the (auto-correct('auto-trash')) option in my scanning software have _better in them. I also uploaded Jungle Book and KGJr's Winning Run, though Winning Run has a large, ugly Blockbuster sticker on the back over the UPC. Also, I don't think anyone's touched my Spawn scan so if need be I can rescan and re-upload that as well.

Thanks.

Proto: A template is only more trouble than its worth for people who dont know how to use photoshop.  This is upper level stuff here.

Johnny:  The template was designed for clarity and and whatnot.  I dunno if were looking at the same covers, cause the raws I saw were scratched and nicked all to hell.  Not to mention faded.  My template removes the fades and nicks... and stardardizes the non-standard world of covers from that time period.  Order from chaos, baby!

If you dont like the idea, I understand, really... you're a naturalist, its cool, and I get that.  I think 1/2 the site go that way.  But my template is for the other 1/2.

Look at the thread one more time, I'm creating customs that look better than the originals.  I'm just trying to breathe new life, but trying to stick to the original design.

I like your template and your attempt at uniformity for the covers Mooky and I hope you can make many more.

True, my photoshop skills only go so far, and I haven't even tried doing a cover. I was just saying that it shouldn't be the only source we have for doing covers, but custom covers are cool as well. They add kind of a "NEWNESS" to a game, and look just as sexy on a shelf. Thats why I have been uploading so many SFC covers. The japanese take pride in thier artwork for the games they produce, just check out the original Megaman 1 cover for the Famicom, and then look at ours for the NES... what the hell were Capcom U.S.A thinking using that cover, just an exsample though. I upload the SFC covers not only for someone to be able to obtain the SFC cover if needed, but also for someone to create a custom cover for the US titles as well. However, as I said, custom covers would be great, and even better for some of us who have doubles of games such as my self, cause then we could make good use of both the original, and the custom covers. :)

NTSC Lord of the Rings raw scan uploaded. This box is really nice so hopefully it won't be too much work.

Also,

Has anyone here found a way/product to remove box stickers without destoying the box? I know goo gone works extremely well on plastic but would likely destroy the print. I need to remember to start asking about stickers before bidding.

Thanks,
shark

I remember someone saying they needed the SFC box scan to Super Castlevania 4 (A.K.A. Demon Caslte Dracula/Akumajo Dracula in Japan) So I went ahead and uploaded the raw scans for it. Bungleboss I believe is the one that needed it, so there it is if anyone wants to have a shot at finalizing it!!

Later guys, I have to go pick up my brother megaman from the local bar, he's getting a little happy with the ol' plasma cannon!!

Hey Proto, great work on uploading the Castlevania cover. :) I much prefer having my Jap games in Jap cases.

Thing is though that the scans have come out kinda blurry (the mario world scans are fuzzy too)

I downloaded the current scans but some clearer ones would be great.

I'll see what I can do... I noticed the pictures on the actual boxes are kinda blurry, so Im sure the scans will turn out the same way. Let me see what I can do.

Okay ..... as you can probably tell .... I've been uploading a truckload of SNES covers onto the main site. There's still a buckload to go but have patience ...they'll be available soon. I'm working through individual authors contributions ... at the moment Lish has my undivided attention ... it's easier on my mind dealing with one persons contributions at a time ... but rest assured I'm slowly getting on top of the huge pile you guys have submitted in the last month or so.

Just uploaded Blazing Skies. Lish created it but in the non standard format [ sides reversed ] so I made that available and created a standard version as well. I also replaced the Nintendo Seal of Approval with a better version. Have a look at both and use whichever you prefer.

It's great to see all of the new covers going up. I uploaded raw scans for NTSC Street Fighter II (not turbo). I think someone here was looking for that one.
