....
And with some custom 'screenshots'

Umm ... while i like how interesting the screenshots are for the game i don't think we can host that version on the site. Huh ... well thats an odd predicament, we've never run across this problem before (alt screen shots).

Heh, that's fine. I just came across a whole number of these fake screen shots while looking for art to use for the front of covers, and wanted to do something with them.

I understand that it's probably 'a custom too far'. Did I upload a version with normal screen shots?

I'll just upload this one to box.net in case anyone is interested in getting them.

EDIT: Oh, and thank you for the offer. I *think* the only SNES PAL conversion I still need is Mario Paint. I'll go through the SNES section later and see if any of the other ones I need were made by you.

Secret of Mana - PAL

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/thedrowningman.custom.snes_secretofmanapaloflc_au.jpg

I'm assuming this cover has been rejected. Was the only reason the text on the back? I've replaced that, so I was wondering if I should upload it again, or if there are more changes that need to be made. Oh, I also removed the OFLC 'G' rating from the front. Firstly, it was poor quality, and secondly, most of the time the ratings were just stickers stuck on the box.

Same with the Illusion of Time cover from a few pages ago. I fixed up the text on the back. Was that the only reason, or do I need to fix more?

Gasp!!! Did i just make a retail cover?!?!  Well pretty much retail. I replaced the red color and just duplicated the spine flaps to make up the size difference when converted to the UGC.  The same flap is on both the front and the back.  I'll make a vertical version, one w/ Jigsaw's template and a full-size box reproduction later.

Went back to work on the Super Game Boy cover.

There's a few variations, so here's some previews which show them off. Let me know which combination of things you prefer, and if you see anything that needs fixing.

Grey front text, and information bubbles on the screen shots on the back.

Blue front text, no bubbles.

And, a first for me, an NTSC version.

Bubbles.

No bubbles.

EDIT: Just realised I'll also need to edit the text on the back of the NTSC ones, to "fix" the spelling of 'colour' and 'maximise'.

Most of the time such customs (where the "quality" is nice) get rejected because of a wrong barcode, wrong product number or wrong legal text! Especially the 'Game by' part is wrong most of the time. You know not all games were made by Nintendo.

Thanks tiktektak. I remember the barcode and product code, but most of the time I completely forget about the legals in the corner. I'll start fixing those up.

And I know the topic and its positives/negatives have been discussed ad nauseam, but if covers from a single uploader keep getting rejected for the same reason, a quick PM could easily fix it and prevent your time being wasted in the future with the same mistakes. Of course, that depends on one Admin noticing the same mistake from the same uploader, so it might not be as simple as it sounds.

What's not to like about this one?

For me personally it's too bland and uninspired compared to other custom cover pros works on our site.

Only the front artwork is stellar which is because it's from a very talented artist.

so here what i've been working on today instead of writing my final paper for the semester.

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Ragnarok2103.retail.snes_kirrrbycopy.jpg

This cover wasn't too bad to do, but I don't think a single scan of the back of this cover exists on the internet anywhere. Someone was selling a sealed one on ebay about a year ago, and they had pictures of each side and the back, so i was able to do the back based on that. I also had the instruction manual so thats where the front image and some of the other images come from, but they still required a fair amount of cleanup. Everything is original, including the screenshots. so, let me know what you think.

I think you should do a vertical conversion while you're at it  ;)

But seriously, it looks great.
