New SNES covers

Zelimpdna:

The 'base' is the first cover in the Super Mario World section. Judging by the back of the cover, this was an early submission, and probably wouldn't pass QC now. So I have doubts this one will. The text seems fine, but the screenshots aren't very good. I'd replace them, but I don't have any good enough, and can't be bothered running through an emulator to get some. If someone can link or upload some good quality screenshots, I'll update it, otherwise, grab it while you can I guess.

And here's the vertical one with the custom 'screenshots'.

A couple of PAL conversions.

Mario Paint

Super Game Boy

I need the barcodes for both, and the serial number for Super Game Boy. I've looked on Video Game Rebirth, but nothing. Are there any better places to look for this info?

As far as the PAL conversion for Mario Paint goes, I can just convert that one myself. I know that sounds very rude but the cover you used for the base for "your" PAL Mario Paint is my NTSC Mario Paint cover. All the artwork, screenshots and text are from my version.  I spent a lot of time recoloring and cleaning up the artwork used in that cover.  If you would like any of the covers i have made converted to the PAL template please just PM me or create a request directed at me in the future.

As far as the Super Gameboy cover goes: I know you are trying to maximize space with the front artwork but it completely messes with the consistency of the other vertical SNES covers.  The artwork should not consume the orange gradient "only for" bar under the SNES logo or the gray gradient bar at the bottom. There are two Nintendo Seals on the front cover or yellow dots across the bottom banner.  Why is there no "four color super famicom" symbol on the back?  All the other covers have the symbol plus the three picture boxes (that don't move).  This is why i attached a readme file with the template so things don't look completely different compared to the other covers on the site.

The barcode number and product number can be found on our current cover we host on the site.

I know all of this sounds very rude but i thought i should inform you about some of the unwritten rules of cover making.

Zelimpdna:

Hi Shenske.

I apologise if it came across as rude or that I was stealing your cover for the PAL conversion. For the most part, I already have the NTSC versions on my HDD, and I'm just working off those for the conversions. I don't look on the site to see who originally made it until I go to post it, and when I post it, I always credit the original maker and specify that all I did was convert it to PAL. I'm not trying to take credit for other peoples' hard work, and with some previous conversions I did, because I changed so little, I actually posted that if they are accepted, they should be uploaded under the original creator's name.

I'm very happy for you, or anyone else who made the original NTSC covers, to make the conversions, as they'll doubtlessly be far superior. I didn't want to inconvenience any of you, and take up any of your time which you would otherwise be using to make new covers. Especially as I wasn't sure if you kept working files, as if not, they would take a considerable amount of time.

I'm doing these covers because they're ones I need. I don't intend this in an inconsiderate way, because I really do appreciate the work you all do, and I've had a number of my requests completed previously, but I didn't want to wait until any of you have the time to do these conversions, which I assumed would be quite low on your priorities.

From now on though, I will check if any were made by you, or other still active cover makers, and send a PM first.

As for the Super Gameboy, I used a NTSC vertical cover as the base. I must have saved it when someone previewed it, because I just noticed by following your link that it's not actually on the site. The only reason I didn't follow the template guidelines was because the "original" was that way, so I assumed some sort of special dispensation had been made for that cover. However, since it's not on the site, I'm assuming that was the reason [or one of many.] As for the barcode and product number, they're for the US version, I need preferably the Australian or UK numbers.

This is also why I previewed the covers, so that people could comment and tell me what needs fixing/changing. So thank you, and I'll go back and work on the SGB cover.

Its no big deal, i was just pointing out why i didn't feel it was right to accept that cover on the site (if it were my cover or not). I don't know why but generally written text is often misconstrued as being aggressive but i wasn't upset at all.  I was serious though about my offer to convert any of my NTSC SNES cover to PAL SNES that you need.  :)

I completely understand why you are going to the trouble of converting covers to another region's template. I'm sure if i were from Europe or Australia it would be quite bothersome and/or annoying that the NTSC covers get the majority of the attention.  Good luck with the Super Gameboy cover (I've had one on the back-burner for quite some time).
