So one thing I have always preferred is the Japanese N64 Covers, the simple fact they were vertical, had full artwork and barely any logos clogging up the front of the box. There were some really good designs, especially the Zelda titles, so I've spent the last few days working on a new project for my site designing similar style covers for UGC Covers.

These are just the ones I've been able to print off at the moment, I'm on the fence between using the standard back from the Custom Covers here or creating something new for each cover.

Would love some thoughts!

Adding my voice to the chorus. :) I really like covers where the template stays out of the way, so to speak, and lets the art take centre-stage— and your covers do that very well.

These look great, I'd love to see some more examples.

Judging by Wii games you've got there you're Australian based? I'll have to check your site out.

Curious how the back looks though.  As much as I do love the front and spine, I do like the information / pictures on the back.

Thanks for all the nice words, I've been hard at work over the last few days working on my own personal collection and wanted to give you a few updates

1080 Snowboarding

Conker's Bad Fur Day

F-Zero

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Perfect Dark

Super Smash Bros

I've also decided to stick with the stock back for the covers, honestly, they just do the job.

I've always liked this idea, and I think I've even suggested it before. Some games can use a similar vertical cover from another source, like using an Animated Series cover for Batman Beyond or Superman, strategy guide covers or CD/DVD covers from other systems for stuff like Mortal Kombat Trilogy or Sub-Zero. At first I thought you used the actual Japanese covers, but looks like you used similar art for most of them, if not maybe the actual Japanese boxes for some. What sources did you use? I'd like to see variations using translated/ modified versions of EVERY Japanese N64 box made in this style. Too bad Japanese boxes are kinda rare outside Japan...

For reference, the Japanese boxes for:

Perfect Dark:

GoldenEye:

Ocarina of Time:

Mario Kart 64:

Banjo-Kazooie:

1080 Snowboarding:

Your 1080 and Ocarina are very similar, are they from the Japanese manuals? Your Smash Bros, F-Zero and Majora's Mask are the same as the Japanese, and Conker never was released in Japan.

I think these look fantastic! Much better than the original boxes did.

Good stuff, happy to see this project blooming. The Smash Bros cover is a favourite, I've always liked that art (and the general comic-book aesthetic of the first game). And while this isn't a criticism, I must admit I'm a little surprised by your Perfect Dark cover, and that you didn't use the Japanese cover as a base— that's one of those covers that always gets brought up in discussions of how covers differ between regions.

These are STUNNING! The Zelda pair and Smash Bros, especially. Very well done.

The one on the far right is cool. She seems a lot younger than I thought she would be. Looks kind of like a teenager to me...

I have covers for most Disc based games. Let me know if you need something scanned.
