Went into Family Video looking for some of the Black Game Rental Cases (Amarays) (
please note this post) and was told that FV as a whole pretty much stopped using them. This aligns with the fact that most to all of their games went 'live' (put out on the shelf in locked movie cases) about 6 months ago (the time I was fired). Asked them if they had any of the cd cases we usually had the games in (in the back counter drawers) and was surprisingly given an entire box. Score!
Contemplated really hard about this next one, but the prices were too good to pass up...
Please note, if anyone goes in and purchases either the VMI (middle grey machine), you should get buffing pads. There are consumables to each machine and they are STUPID in price online.
As for the black Hybrid machines, there is a small chip (with a connection that is similar to a VGA port) that counts how many cycles the machine has been run. This chip is REPLACABLE and is also STUPID in price. Once the machine hits ~2000 cleans (I think?), you have to replace this chip. You cannot reset the chip, you have to replace it in order to get the machine to work again.
If anyone needs / wants / has any questions about the cleaner machines, I would love to answer them (here or in a PM). The only machine I do not know how to properly use is the $6000 RTI... which we did have.... 5 years ago... but it was shipped to a different store... and oh how I miss it...
Needless to say, damn... I'm excited.
