Im trying to rebuild Monkeyshines! from scratch, meaning new everything except the Gorilla head from the front. Even that's a poor scan (came from Moby same as yours) but i cleaned and filtered it up a lot so we will see how it all turns out. I will let you know if i need the covers you have. :)
yeah, Monkey Shines is my FIRST of the 3..and the lines are disjointed, and etc....i have cleaned it up since then...let me see if i can upload the pic somewhere(i'll have to lower the DPI just to get it UP to a picture host)...i could share RAW scans, and i tried today with RAW scans from boxes here, but i kept getting a 500 message TIME-OUT from the WWW...not sure what i'm doing wrong. maybe the scans are just too big to fit thru the pipe.

Monkeyshines! (NTSC/U.S)
Ok...firstly, its not an exact 1 for 1 remake of an original case. Scans of even average quality are almost non-existant so its all rebuilt from scratch. The only remaining part of an actual cover is the Gorilla head on the front. I matched the fonts as best i could and copied as much from the original as i could find decent replacements for. The spine is a bit of an issue as i have only a very small picture to try and match with. This could be a working template BUT because the available scans are pretty crappy, its going to be difficult to make these of a good enough quality.

One major irritant with this is the poxy Odyssey logo and that '2' in the top right corner of it. It throws the logo off center. If you try to center the words, the '2' looks odd so it has to be as it is now. Mind you, that's how Magnavox/Philips have it so...
That looks GREAT! how do you add fonts? i haven't figured that out yet. Maybe PhotFiltre doesn't allow the adding of fonts...it's so limited on indigenous fonts.
How do i download that version?  the picture is not flat(i see this way on the forums all over, and can't figure out how to use those)

Grumbleduke was showing you a preview image. It just gives you an idea of what the cover will look like. We dont show the flat image on the forums in full size becasue it would be far too large to see the entire cover. You can get the downloadable full size image when we upload it to the site under its own section.  Problem is at this time we are unable to add any covers to the site due to a security issue.

If i were you i would just go to Adobe's website i download a free 30-day trial of photoshop for you to use.  :)

T.Y :) Well i cant speak for Photofiltre, i have never used it but this cover was made with PS. Most of the info text is in Ariel so thats easy enough, the 'Challenger Series' was one i adapted from something else, don't remember what now, and the 'Ultimate' bit was from a font called Future. I will upload this in the morning and put a link in for you to take a look.

Edit: Sage advice from shenske, PS is the best option for covers imho. The 3D previews are generated with Imandix CoverPro.

I just googled some stuff about PhotoFiltre, it doesn't even support layers.

If I were you, for a free program, I'd just use GIMP. As far as freeware image editing goes it's about the best you can do.

I was thinking it would be somewhere else, like Flicker, Photobucket, or etc.

I'll totally be doing this during Summer Break. I discovered your amazing site and the idea of making covers at the END of summer break, so i haven't had time to commit..i'm on Christmas Break, so i have a little time to play now, PLUS i'm getting my 100 Univ.Game.Cases tomorrow! first time ever having them (i've been mostly working on DVD cases and Sega Genesis cases until now).
When i FIRST discovered your site, i was at the Beach, and i checked the Office Max there, and was shocked at the price for PhotoShop.

Layers? never heard of them(i'm a noob)...but i love learning this! I plan to do this all summer(even commit to buying a Laser Printer)
GIMP? I'll have to check-it out. I'm either learning that PhotoFiltre is too small, or i just haven't figured it out. You guys are awesome! How long did it take you to learn and get up to par?

Here's a link to Monkeyshines. Should we ever get an Odyssey/Videopac section up and running, this will be transfered to the site. The 3D previews are generated by Imandix but hosted at Photobucket. Best thing to do is grab one of the suggested programs and a template from the template section (has to be PS compatible for this, all the templates are PSD) and just play around with it...the more you play, the better you get. :)

Has there been any word on getting an Odyssey 2 section up? I have a few games that would look great in cases... I also just purchased a 233-in-1 Multicart that would be amazing in a case.

so, now we have no Odyssey 2 section at all? that's terrible, since it's such a historical part of gaming.

FOUND the THREAD!!! Now: Where are those covers?
(if no live links, I guess I could rescan them, and upload to Flickr or something).
https://app.box.com/shared/8ir859y95y       for Monkeyshines!
but...we could really use an ODYSSEY2 section on TCP.

I second that.  Course people have to upload them and they have to be approved.
