For once I'm mostly happy with lazy company management.

Got about 8% payrise.
And additional one time payment is coming.

There was some confusion with equaling our pays when several citys and municipalities combined their health and social care into one company about ten years ago.
They were supposed to bring everyones pay from equal work to the level of the highest paid ones.
They were supposed to do that at latest eight or nine years ago.
But it was not done.

Well three persons contacted their union to clean the mess.
Oh and the union did.
They did not go to court (which would have resulted higher payout for us... :( ) but setled.

Everybody's pays were rised to the level it was supposed to be (up over 25% with the lowest payed ones I heard).
And the payrise is retroactive for at least six years.
The full amounts should be clear by end of this month.
Highest payouts are going to be 12000+ Euros (mine quite much lower as our department was on the higher end all the time)
Bad thing in this is that as this was not setled in court (court winnings are taxfree) and the pay is a lum sum tax man is taking huge cut (from some due to progressive tax curve 50%+ of the sum, me probably 30%).

At least you get a raise. Here in the US you either have to get promoted or go to another company to get a raise.

At least anything significant like that! Raises for me have been typically .25 cents an hour or less increase, very infrequently.

Here unions do the fighting and every two years there is longish battle where unions threaten with strikes and employers threaten worsening work conditions and lock outs from work.
This goes unionfield by unionfield (by unionfield I mean all unions of certain sector like metalworkers, healthcare, harborworkers and so on) and takes few months.
This always end workers getting 3-4% raise over the two years while getting something taken from them like less holiday pay, but always workers winning by little end.

This 8% + lumpsum is totally fault of the local healthcare consortiums leadership not bothering to do their work but instead playing golf, building new sauna for everybody to use  (but the list is always full of reservations by higher-ups ::)), building a new carpark that is so expensive that almost nobody uses it (except the higher-ups who naturally can park for free), renovating healthcare centers and then closing them, renovating the main hospital and then leaviung it half empty as local municipalities won't lat all healthcare moved there away from the munipalities (increasing basic healthcare visits by over 150km in some cases), making up comitees to plan something nobody needs (for which attending naturally gives them extra pay) and pickering and fighting in the press who is stepping on whose toes.

And now they have asked police to determine who to blame... :P
