Hi everyone! It's been a long, long time since I was last here (not that I expect anyone to remember me, haha), but the recent acquisition of some loose games got me back into making covers every now and again.

Recently I was working on a DS cover when I noticed that the system branding bar on the front is not a perfectly clean cut: there's a thin band of purplish-grey colour running alongside it, which is definitely not present on official covers. I was just using what template I still had on my machine, soo I was wondering if a newer, updated version of the template— with cleaner elements— was ever made? I had a look around but I didn't see anything, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway. If not, no worries— I can deal with it, it's not especially noticeable.

Thanks for your time.  :)

I did check that thread, but since it hadn't been updated in years I was wondering if something else was floating around. From your reply I assume no. Ah well. Thanks anyway!

I was wrong, I couldn't deal with it. :P

I did some looking around and came across this template on VGboxart, which looks very accurate to my retail games. So I ported it over to the template on TCP, with a bit of tinkering to adjust it to our proportions (such as making sure the spine tab is flush with the GBA templates). It looks sharp! Here's a comparison (old on the left, new on the right):

(Ignore that I decided to change the contrast between revisions)

Would there be any interest in a .PSD of this? I'd love to give back to a community that I've gotten much from, but I'm wary about passing around what is not really my work.

Of course the better templates we have the better covers we can make easier.

I have some DS cases designs that could benefit from this template. Let me give it a spin.

Revision looks good to me. I am pretty sure I made that template shortly after the DS came out. I'm sure things could be sharpened up now that we have better assets to work with and a keener eye for these things  :)

I hope you didn't take this thread as a slight— I've used your template in the past to great results, and your work is still 99% of the revised one I posted. That it's still so good all these years later speaks to the care you put into assembling it.

Also, I forgot to mention this, but in addition to the file name, I snuck a credit to you into the template file itself. :)

You're good, I did not interpret any slight.

I noticed that under the black banner on the back of the template. The credit is appreciated and flattering  :)
