I'm new! Questions about scanning

Hello! I recently joined and as I made a request, I would also like to contribute! I don't have a particularly extensive game collection, but I did find about 10 games that I couldn't find covers for on the site or raw scans of in the forums (I'm sure some of them might still be duplicates somewhere).

I would love to contribute, but it appears my scanner (HP Officejet 6970) does not have a descreen/derasterize setting. I have confirmed with the free, watermarked version of VueScan that I can apply a descreen setting successfully through a third party software, but since I only have a few covers to scan I don't particularly want to pay for a software to do this. I am having a hard time finding a software that's free - or even has a short free trial - that allows me to descreen without a big 'ol watermark. Does anybody here have any suggestions? Would it be worth uploading the scans that have the Moire effect or is that a waste of everybody's time?

Sorry for late reply but my internet was down due to snapped fiber.

We do prefer moire free scans but we can remove it while making covers too.
As long as scan is absolutely straight, absolutely flat and 600DPI without other alterations (cropping is fine as long as there is slight margin visible so we know the scan is complete) all is fine.

Please use Mediafire or Box.com when providing the raws as those two services don't compress the images (and are free).

I appreciate all the work you all have been doing here, it's very impressive, and I love that this resource is available. I can tell you have poured a lot of love and effort into this project, so thank you all for maintaining this website and its forums =)
