Once I open a game system, I NEVER put it back in the box. I just figured most people were the same. I understand for games, just like movies, you want them displayed nicely on the shelf with artwork. I just don't see the same need for hardware, I mean would you pack up your Blu Ray player after every movie you watch? Not me, I keep everything hooked up.
This is one of the coolest experiments I have ever seen! That box looks really good! Your custom inner cardboard tray looks even better than the original styrofoam tray. Are you planning on making other boxes? I'd like to see you make the retail NES Action Set box. Can you also make a box for the NES Deluxe Set? How about a box for the Super Nintendo?
