I just ordered two of Super Mario 3D All-Stars (and reserved another 2 just to make sure I'll get them).
One for me one for my siblings to play.

While I'm obviously huge into PS1, these are actually the first ever PS1 imports that I've ever bought.  I have a Japanese PS1 on the way along with a few other games.

My other package with PS1 imports arrived today.  It also included a Japanese PSOne, but I didn't take a picture because it looks just like a US model.

I never knew until this purchase that some Japanese games use the same jewel cases as the US PS1 games and some Japanese games use the larger jewel cases that the PAL PS1 games came in.  I'm trying to figure out if there was a rhyme or reason to how they did it.

I don't think I had any PAL PS games, but I did have Shenmue II for PAL Dreamcast  which I assume used the same kind of case. Had plenty of Japanese PS1 games. All I can say is that I hate all thick cases, including US double cases. Whenever I got a US PS1 game with a double case, like Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo, I moved it to a regular jewel case or regular jewel case with the flaps that's still the same size as a regular case.

I like the “I’m just gonna leave this here” attitude of your post but I wanna know more: did you pay going rate, get it online or find it locally, did you know it was pretty uncommon (although it seems PAL version isn’t going for as much as US)?

I can't remember where I learned of it, but I was aware it was uncommon, finally decided that now I had a bit of money I'd track it down, found it on eBay cart only, paid £35, with free shipping, don't know about classic pricing, but I'm happy I got it...
