Hey so if I had some questions about actual gameplay of some games, where is a good forum to do that? For example, how to beat the Level 3 boss or whatever. Gamefaqs forums don't seem very active, and this forum is more of a "hey look what I got!" forum. I don't frequent many other forums, so where do you guys talk ABOUT the games?

Yeah, why not? So my question right now is, did anyone else get Darius Cozmic Collection: Console Edition?

It's got the PC Engine, Master System, Genesis and SNES versions of the games in the Darius series. For some reason, the SNES versions don't map the buttons that have no functionality in game, and this cannot be changed. Which is fine, except for entering cheat codes. Anyone figure out a way? I have the collection on Switch, where the Switch minus button is hard coded to bring up the collection menu. Start is hardcoded to Start/ Pause/ Run. The other buttons can all be changed. Here are some images showing the mapping. I never knew that the SNES and SFC versions of Darius Twin used different mapping. SFC used X and A and SNES changed it to Y and B. The SNES manual actually points to the SFC button locations in the picture of the controller! The Cozmic versions just use both mappings for the JPN and ENG versions.

You know Switch itself has the option to map any button to to be any other button?

Yes, but that's not the problem. The SNES buttons "Select and L" don't exist on this collection at all. In the 4 SNES/SFC games, some combination of "R, Y,B,X,A" buttons also don't exist. So I can map the Switch button to anything I want (both in game and on the UI), but it can never be one of those "forbidden" buttons, as they were removed from the emulation.

Japanese Darius Twin: No buttons can be mapped to be SNES Select, L, R, Y or B.
American Darius Twin: No buttons can be mapped to be SNES Select, L, R, X or A.
Super Nova/ Darius Force (from here on out just called Darius Force): No buttons can be mapped to be SNES Select, L, X or A.

Switch -: hardcoded to bring up the menu of the collection itself
Switch +: hardcoded to Start* in all games in this collection. (*Pause- SMS, Run- PC Engine)

Switch button                 SNES button
L:   can be changed        L:        cannot be mapped in any of the 4 SNES games
R:   can be changed        R:       can only be mapped in Darius Force
ZL: can be changed        Select: cannot be mapped in any of the 4 SNES games
ZR: can be changed        Start:  hardcoded to Switch + button, can also be mapped as a duplicate on any Switch button besides -, Home or Capture
Y:   can be changed        Y:        cannot be mapped in Japanese Darius Twin
B:  can be changed        B:        cannot be mapped in Japanese Darius Twin
X:  can be changed        X:        cannot be mapped in Darius Force or American Darius Twin
A:  can be changed        A:        cannot be mapped in Darius Force or American Darius Twin

Also, not that it matters for this issue, but the (S)NES/ (S)Famicom Nintendo Online controllers cannot be remapped in the UI, so "Select" on the SNES controller will ALWAYS be "collection menu" on this compilation.

Oh, now I understand your problem.
