Guess I'll start a thread for August. So I got some HD Retrovision cables... Just need them to release the Dreamcast cables now. I'll probably get the plug-n-play solution for the TG16 eventually and then if I want anything else to be component out, I'll have to get it modded. |

Found a hell of a deal. It was posted as a big Turbografx 16 set. It came with the TG16, turbo booster, Turbo CD and dock, 2 controllers, turbo tap, and power outlet for the cd dock. Also has the Turbografx carrying case. It cost me about $200 with tax. As you can see with the original post, it was pretty dusty/dirty. Also the posting said it was untested, but the seller told me they couldn't get it to work. I put a few hours into cleaning and testing everything and I'm pretty happy. The TG-16, Turbo Boost, case, and turbo tap are all great with some minor cosmetic imperfections. The two controllers are ok, but each has some issues with button presses. Probably needs a board clean, no big deal. The CD and dock was tricky. After some testing, I realized the only included AC adapter (for the cd dock) doesn't work. Which sucks because those are pretty pricey to replace. That's also why the seller said it didn't work - because they couldn't get it to power on with that plug. The CD unit itself actually uses the same plug as a TG-16 (which I happen to have), and does work. I tested it with an audio cd and it works great! Though I'll probably get the motor and capacitors replaced to be safe. I also found a nice quality 3rd party replacement for the dock - here's hoping it actually works. So $200 for a working TG16, turbo booster, TG CD, and Turbo Tap. ;D |

Although, I might pick up a Dreamcast adapter if they make one for the genesis cable. |

The big thing for the CD drive (AKA CD2) is to replace the middle gear. it likes to swell and become brittle. Also be careful of the controller cables. They can release a gas that warps plastics. |

I have some decent mechanical skills but this stuff is way out of my league. My local game shop offers these kinds of repairs and I have also found a guy online who has a business doing this as well. Either way, I'm looking forward to it. |
