Hi. I'm sure someone here can help me out real fast.

Up until today, I haven't actually owned a Collector's Edition MM cartridge (you know with the holographic label).

This is so different from any other label I've ever seen on an N64 cartridge, that I have to double check that it's real and not a replacement label. (I have nothing to compare it to)

To describe it, it has a striped texture on the surface. It is of course holographic. The cartridge codes (NUS-etc) are very hard (almost impossible) to read through the holographic. It's a very thick label with slightly beveled or rounded outer perimeter.

Does this sound correct?

Assuming this is legit (which it seems to be), this is frankly a pretty crappy looking label in exchange for a "cool" effect.

I have covers for most Disc based games. Let me know if you need something scanned.

Thanks guys.

One bit of collector's ignorance that I will never understand is why the Collector's Edition copy of the game (with or without box) is more expensive than the non-collectors edition.

The non-collector's Majora's Mask IS a rarer game.

Meh, people see the "Collector's Edition" and want it over the boring-old regular edition and demand goes up I guess. I will say, I kind of want it just for the neat label...
To be this good it takes AGES!

I have both versions. Trust me, the label sucks. The non collectors version is a proper label  ::)

It’s actually not a holographic label. It’s what’s known as “lenticular 3D”.  As others have already stated, that is the method Nintendo employed for the MM label.

Rare isn’t the only determining factor of rarity. Personally, I’d way rather have the gold cart over the gray, as (seemingly) most others do.

In this case (Majora's Mask), the cart is AWAYS gold. But this applies to Ocarina and the first two Zeldas. Gold = the version most people want, if not a "gotta catch em all" situation.

Yup.  I mean, who wants gray if gold as an option?! LOL

You could always have the Pokemon Stadium 2 effect where the front half is gold and the back half is silver >.>
