Request- Wrecking Crew 98 - SFC - JPN - Retail - Raws

egrudzin:

Got a complete copy of Wrecking Crew 98, but the box is a little beaten up and sun faded (which is why it didn't cost $200).
I started working on it, but don't have the time to finish.  Will need some clean up and color balancing.

Hope one of you photoshop wizards can tackle this!  Looking for a cover in the style of the other SFC games on the site like Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart, etc.

Link to front an back scans plus a file with initial progress made in paint.NET:

Thanks!

Arseen:

Unfortunately the scans were 200DPI which makes making good 300DPI cover impossible.
That's why we prefer 600DPI scans so we have leeway when cleaning.
300DPI absolute minimum but there is no leeway then.
Also if your scanner has descreen option (aka derasterize or moire removal) use that but no other filters.

egrudzin:

Sorry!  Rescanned at 600 DPI and uploaded the images replacing the previous ones!

My scanner has two drivers installed, the crappy default Windows one and the manufacturer one.  Well the default apparently just scans at 200 DPI.  Used the manufacturer one and was able to bump it up.  Unfortunately I don't have any options for any kind of filters, so nothing I manually turned on or off there.

Hope this helps and thanks again!

Arseen:

Front scan is perfect (or as good as it can be), how ever back is not.
It has unfocused areas where the box has not been in contact of the glass (compare text under first screenshot and the third screenshot).
Please rescan it with heavy book or two on top of the box.

And no worries about the missing moire removal as that doesn't seem to matter here (the front image is that horrible in real life, right??).

egrudzin:

Uploaded a new version of the back.  Hopefully this one is good (seems clear enough to me, should have looked at it the first time!)

And yes the front is rough.  Guessing it sat in the sun for a long time.  I know it's a lot of work to rebalance the colors on the whole thing (it's not even uniformly faded...) since I tried.  But a pristine box was prohibitively expensive as this game is pretty rare.

Thanks for helping out!
