I want to propose a new structure for the cover section of the forums and would like to know your thoughts on this.  :)

At the moment the covers are organized by case sizes. I do not think this makes much sense anymore, since every newer console is using their own proprietary format. They do not fit together and they do not fit into any existing category. Some consoles (like Nintendo Switch, PSP or PS Vita) don't have a category at all.

So instead I would organize them by Platform (like the main site does as well). Something like this:

  • Nintendo:
    • Console (NES, SNES, N64, GC, WII, WII U, Nintendo Switch)
    • Handheld (Gameboy, NDS, 3DS)
  • Sony:
    • Console (PSX, PS2, PS3, PS4)
    • Handheld (PSP, PS VITA)
  • Microsoft:
    • Console (XBOX, XBOX 360, XBOX One)
    • PC (Windows / OSX)
  • Retro:
    • Atari (Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Atari XE, Atari Lynx)
    • SEGA (Master System, Mega Drive, Mega CD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear)
    • Other (3DO, Amiga, Colecovision, ...)
This is just a simple example. Of course you could get more elaborate.

NES is console, Dreamcast is retro... ;D

I too have been thinking of something similar once in a while.
I don't think it would be too difficult to make new sections for the boards and then one by one transfer important topics to the correct sections, while at the same time creating more uniform topics for publishing and storing ready covers.

All non essential topics would be stored in the old forums section or deleted if really pointless (good bye my post count...).

It's up to Snowcone to OK this, and then him or Cover Admins decide the layout.
