Need Game Recommendations

Taketheword:
Hi everyone.

I at one point had nearly 1,000 games. Since then I had other priorities so I sold all of the games that I had no intention of playing. Now I have somewhere around 300 games.

Anyways, I’ve become somewhat bored with retro gaming due to a lack of inspiring titles. So that’s what I’m asking for. I know there a loads of inspired titles out there.

If anyone can give recommendations for like “must plays” that would be great.

Here are some examples of games I like:
The Legend of Zelda series
SMW
3D platformers such as CBFD, Sly series, Jak series
FPS games new and old
I also like artistic oddities like SotC
And many more so don’t be afraid to recommend

Things I don’t like:
Extreme JRPG’s or anything with turn-based combat
Aimless platformers like crash bandicoot
Sonic

It can be for any Nintendo system including handhelds, PS1/2/3, PC/DOS.

Thanks in advance.

Hard to answer since I don't know what you've already played.  But since you mention Zelda, I'll suggest Link's Awakening.  I played the remake on the Switch for the first time this year and loved it.  I had never played the original, so it was an entirely new game for me.  I enjoyed the game enough that during quarantine, I decided to go back and play the original.  I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed the game and I felt that I truly missed out on a great game by not playing it back when it was new.  Overall, I prefer the modern take on the game, mainly because the extra buttons means less time switching to the menu to revise your action buttons.  That gets old in the Game Boy version.  But both are amazing games and hold up well even today.
Tech13:
PS1: Bloody roar, Guilty Gear, Einhander, Intelligent Qube, Megaman X series (4,5,6), Metal Gear Solid, Techmo's Deception

PS2: Bloody roar 3 and 4, Devil May Cry, Guilty Gear X, Gungrave, Kingdom Hearts, Spy Hunter 1 and 2, SSX Tricky, Twisted Metal Black, Zone of the enders 1 and 2

PS3: Batman Arkham Series, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders 1 and 2, Dragon's Crown, Dynasty Warriors Gundam series, Ratchet and Clank Series

NES: Blaster Master, Castlevania Series, Contra, The Guardian Legend, Kirby, Low G man

SNES: Brandish, Darius Twin, F-zero, Megaman x 1,2,3, Phalanx, Shadowrun, Uniracers

N64: Starwars Shadows of the empire,  Penny racers, Paper Mario

Gamecube: Custom Robo, Fzero GX, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart Double Dash, Phantasy Star Online one and two,

Wii: Nights, Red Steel

Wii U: Affordable Space Adventures, Captain toad, Nintendoland

Switch: Arms (if you take the time for custom controls), Astral Chain,  Daemon x Machina, Grand Brix Shooter, Space Pioneer

Game Boy: Alleway, Battle Unit Zeoth

Gameboy Color, Bionic Commando, Top gear Pocket 2

GBA: Advanced Guardian heroes, Castlevania series, Zelda 4 swords

DS: Castlevania Series

3DS: Luigi's mansion: dark Moon, Liberation Maiden

ok I think that is it. Have fun.

I should throw it out there that I’ve already played every single zelda game except TFH and FS.

Thanks for the recommendations! Some of those I have considered in the past, so maybe I’ll give them a try.
