I'm aware that our covers are for UGCs and therefore will NOT fit in these cases, however, given their more ready availability for many folks, I'm sure that you could just do a bit of resizing and stretching without too much noticeable distortion of the image, hmm?

I'm wondering if someone could get the measurements for the Sega cases and perhaps create a tutorial on how to best adjust a UGC cover to fit a Sega box, for those who would want it. Doesn't seem too difficult.

I actually made a version of the MD UGC template to fit MD or Genesis cases. Any covers i do that i need for myself, i convert from UGC to MD case as UGC's are a pain to get in the E.U and there are plenty of old sports titles going for cheap to get donor cases from. The problem is that the UGC spine is a good bit thicker than a MD case one and so the logo proportions come out too large. If your after total accuracy, resizing a UGC cover is pretty diifficult because the pattern, especially the grid one, can look odd with different size squares. Best thing to do is to try resizing one and if your ok with logo size difference, your set. Case size i use is:

26.8cm X 16.82cm   (3165 X 1987 pixels)

...and that works ok for me. Anyone interested give it a go and post what you think.

yeah but FYI NES carts won't fit in a Genesis box, plus with a Genesis box you have that annoying hangtab most of the time... I like this idea for Genesis games but not for other systems..

Im pretty sure Applequeso was talking about Genesis/MD carts only. I dont use UGC at all for myself. Instead, i use 10 way DVD cases with a stiff card insert (different for each system) i copied from a 2600 game to hold the carts inplace. Its more work to make and resize the UGC covers but all carts fit in the case, its cheaper and a lot easier to source.
And as for those MD case tags, i cut em' off.

Don't NES carts not fit in UGCs either without modification?

And one more question to Grumbleduke: Is it only the spine width that needs modification? If so, why not simply recreate spines from scratch and have them uploaded somewhere on the site?

No you have to cut out the tabs in order for the NES carts to fit

Yeah that's what I meant to say, it was an astoundingly poorly worded post. I was saying that NES carts don't normally fit UGCs either unless you modify them.

Trouble with that is it throws out the pattern, wether it be grid, stripes or dots. There has been a fair bit of discussion on recreating these in the past and as i allready made a template for my own E.U Megadrive cases, i will work on adding all types including U.S to that one and putting it up here. As a matter of interest, what do E.A Genesis carts come in, case wise ?

They come in the same size cases as the normal genesis cases. The only difference in the tabs that hold the cart and manual are different.

yeah but even with modification, a Genesis clamshell does not have enough room width-wise for fit a NES cart and let it lock close, let alone close at all. Maybe an EA Junglestrike like Genesis clamshell box but not a regualar size clamshell.

I just tried it now, there is no way even if you modified the Genesis boxes would a nes cart fit inside.

Ok, thanks Shenske. The cases are slightly thicker in the E.U, is that the case there too?

Does anyone have a side by side comparison of the UGCs and Genesis cases?

I don't have any UGCs yet and was wondering how they would look on the shelf next to Genesis cases.

taking a break from creating a cover, but I'll tell you right now that UGC's are taller and somewhat longer than Genesis cases.

I can take a picture of my genesis boxes if you want and you can see that UGC's are a little bit larger. Of course I leave a small white stripe around all my game cases because I like how it looks...
