Ok. So now this is either twice as awesome or overkill. But now I can play this with my fiancee.

That's awesome! I used to work in a mom n pop video game store and I found a used DSi with the game and transferred it to my 3DS.

Before criticizing someone, walk a mile in their shoes. Then when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away and have their shoes.

Have to share this one. After 3 years of casual Craigslist watching, I found this beast.

 Panasonic TH-42PD60U EDTV.

These Panasonic EDTV's have a native resolution of 480p, so they display it pixel perfect. They also have very good deinterlacing for 480i. And they have native support for 240p line doubling. This makes my NGC and Wii look better than on an OLED tv with Framemeister or my Trinitron. Albeit the Framemeister can scale 240p so perfectly that it is less useful for that. The best EDTV's are the late model 4:3 plasmas which are extremely hard to come by. Anyways, this just fits a huge gray area in console resolutions.

I had a TV similar to that for a while, but I eventually decided to get rid of it because it still couldn't replace my regular Trinitron TV.  If I had the room for a 3 TV setup, I would have kept it, but since I don't have that kind of room, the widescreen SD had to go.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

For me, playing all old systems via emulation on HDMI is perfect/ good enough. The only thing I want is a way to play old light gun games. I know there are some emulation friendly guns like AimTrak, just need to find the best one (when the wife and I get our own place again). I love, love, love/ am obsessed by these Classic minis. All pre NES games on Atari Flashback X, NES/ FDS/ GB/GBC on NES Classic, all SNES/ VB/GBA games on SNES Classic, all Sega games prior to Saturn on Genesis classic. PS Classic and PS3 for PS1 games, and everything Saturn/ N64 and newer would be on original HDMI modded systems.

I have a disliking towards emulation in general. To me browsing through config menus and fenagling to get stuff to play properly sort of ruins the “plug and play” experience. To me half the experience is feeling that solid cartridge and the bulky controller connectors. And when you power on the system it boots straight into the game.

That being said, I agree that these licenses emulator boxes or whatever you want to call them (minis) are great. They preserve some of that plug and play experience.

I have tried everything from stock systems with AV cables up to RGB modded systems with Framemeister. And honestly I kind of agree with the “final HDMI solution”. I have considered just getting HDMI modded systems + an OSSC.

Imo, the EDTV might also be an exceptional TV for all pre-hdmi systems paired with an OSSC (for improved line doubling and scanline option).

Picked up a few during April since quarantine has taken out a bunch of my other money spending ventures. I've focused on the Switch since the retro market seems volatile right now, though there's still several N64 and Gamecube games I want. This month I picked up:

Final Fantasy VII/VIII (Asian)
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy (Asian)
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection
