There is one true Finnish picture that shows that even though almost all toilet paper is sold out, nobody wants certain yellow 2ply brand.

Worked from home today as a "test" for the department.  Found out that I'm not going back into the office until April 6th at the earliest.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Wife and I work at a medication call center. 18 hours of mandatory OT starting this week. Yay! (sarcasm) We don't want it, would rather have the time off. They are also trying to get everyone to work from home, which I guess makes the OT easier to bear.

At the moment the only thing that has changed is my church has suspended sunday services, but I haven't checked the news to see what else has been canceled/closed

People seem to be a bit more selfish/crazy when it comes to food and cleaning products, lots of empty shelves when we went shopping today, and more cars on the road than I would expect for a Monday lunchtime

Interesting. There’s a lot LESS traffic in my neck of the woods.

Update:

UK in "lockdown" (not 100% sure on the right term), everywhere's shut except for the essential stuff (food, medicine)
We're being told to stay indoors as much as possible,

I'm still going into work, I can't work from home, but it's much harder to do when we can't go out anywhere

Much of the US is like this as well, Ohio, New York, Tennessee, California, but surprisingly not Florida yet.

I got phone call yesterday that all non-essential dental appointments were cancelled to minimize the possibility of spreading the virus.
Luckily I know the dentist and the aid well (to convince them that I had been stuck at home nearly 100% during last 2 weeks, thus nearly impossible for me to be carrier of said virus) and the cavity on my tooth was deep enough (almost hitting the nerve) for them to fix it today (instead of original date of next tuesday)... so positive outcome? 8)

Our more or less lockdown has been prolonged until after eastern... let's see what happens then.

But holy shit in Italy hell is loose at the moment... Dead people carried away by military trucks as they haven't got the capacities anymore to normally transport them to the cemetaries. No space at crematories to burn them... possibly soon more infected people then in china...

But I fear also the US could be on a very bad road as your genius president waited much too long for measures being placed. Luckily our government was working a bit faster at least so not too bad for now in austria... we will see what the next weeks will show though...

Finland is now seriously considering isolating the people of capital city area (the sickest area) from the rest of the country, maybe even using help from military for that.
Understandable as the big city folk don't give F*** if they spread the virus.
They just keep going on holidays around the country. ::)

While I’m not a huge trump supporter, I’m hard-pressed to put any significant blame on him. Keep in mind that our infrastructure and impact on the world economy is significant, so shutting the nation down isn’t going to happen overnight.

Not to mention that we have very open borders, especially compared to other western nations, and, as a result, we have a TON of incoming international travel. We have more than 12,000 airstrips/airports. At 3x that of the nation with the second most (Brazil, with ~4,000), we’re like an open wound just waiting for infection.

Well they finally officially closed restaurants today.
You can order take out from them but you can't eat in them.

Not to mention the fact that there is a significant difference between what the media has said that the president is doing, and what he has actually done.  Now more than ever we need people to set aside political differences and just report on actual facts.  The amount of misinformation that has been spreading through the media and the internet has been far scarier than anything the virus has done.

I found out late last week that I will be home at least until the end of April.  My wife made another grocery run today which is about the only thing any of use have done outside of the house.  Luckily, the weather in my area has been nice enough to start cutting grass and doing other yard work.  Outdoor yard work has been a much needed stress relief during this time.  Also, I've continued working on finishing my basement.  It's been a good time to get work done, although it's been a terrible time to have all of my video game systems unhooked.  All I can play at the moment is Switch, PS1 and portable systems (still more than enough to keep my busy).
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

So how's the status at the moment?
We pretty much avoided everything, less than 100 TESTED cases with-in 200 kilometers radius. I say tested as many didn't get tested as cases here were mainly mild.
I even might have had it as I had many of the symptoms of the mild variety (head ache, mild cough, mild sore throath, partial lost of taste/smell, higher than normal temperature (but not yet fever. I think my normal is 36.5, I had 37.2 - 37.5 for few weeks, but fever starts at 38), tiredness, ect... ).
10 related deaths maybe, not sure how many were directly due to Covid and how many just had the bug when they died.

Basicly only major cities were affected, as well as border towns next to Sweden (coutry which had (and still has) it bad).

Restrictions are slowly lifted and immeadly more cases started appearing around the country, but nothing alarming.
I think currently in whole country 24 people are in hospital due to the bug, one being in ICU.

Two thing that has been suggested (not broven) by higher up medical authorities to have protected us from worst effects are the effective vacine cocktail we get as kids and the flu shot variant chosen this year.
Also fast started isolation and effective clenlines campigns helped.
Masks were immeadly sold out so even we the medical personel pretty much went unprotected thru the few months. We had some fabric masks that were there to ease the hysteria among relatives of the patients but in actuality they only caught the major globs of flem (totally useless against viruses or bacteria). ;D
Of course we had better equipment that we could have used if shit hit the fan, but so far no need for them.

Well, looking back, I have nothing but anger, disbelief, and disappointment in how it was handled locally. I'm an independent contract (in the US). My particular governor was one of the more radical ones, and I was essentially told not to work for over two months. We (independent contractors) were told that we would be compensated for being forced to not work, but as it stands, almost 3 months after I was forced to stop working, I haven't received a cent. So now I am thousands of dollars in private debt just to have maintained basic needs (bills, food, etc). The government "owes" me upwards of $10,000 in compensation.

Not a good time in America to be an independent contractor.

Also, there were maybe.. 5 total cases in my county, if that. In fact, it barely even touched the entire region I am in. And yet, many many MANY small businesses went out of business. Many of my family members permanently laid off. Music festivals and theater festivals that bring in millions of dollars of revenue for this area were cancelled.

And a young extended family member tried to commit suicide from depression (not going to say it was entirely due to COVID, but I'm sure being locked up for months didn't help).

For every one case in my state, there were upwards of 10,000 people laid off work. Not a good trade-off if you ask me.
