Hey, so I made/acquired some covers for games that currently don't have any but I can't seem to figure out how I am able to submit them because the game list option is just a dropdown of current games with covers. Any ideas? Sorry if this is common knowledge, I wasn't able to track it down in my search.

Usual answer is to upload as a game next in alphabet order as we anyway have to tinker with the name.

Better answer as upload cue is glogged (and as you are new) is to upload to Mediafire or box and then link to the boards.

as upload cue is glogged

It feels more like the site is quite dead at the moment though. :(
I mean, the review process was always kinda slow, but on average at least a handfull of covers got approved each week.

Now, it is maybe 2 covers every couple of month... and only covers made by admins (or gurus) themself, probably because no one else is reviewing those anyway and they can add them to the database themself.

I have noticed how dead the site is too. Segamer used to put new covers on the main site all the time. Of all my newest Game Boy Advance covers, Chicken Shoot wasn't put on the main site. Only Chicken Shoot 2 was put on the main site. The cover for the first game needs to be on the site too. When I made Centipede for Game Boy Color, only the 2nd version made it to the main site. The 1st version didn't make it. I wish it was there. I also have lots of Super Nintendo and NES Custom Game Case covers that are still waiting for the main site.

Is there any way we can help with the process? There is so much good stuff in this website it would be awful if it just slowed down and died when there are so many willing contributors.

Just as an FYI, Gurus cannot approve covers for the site (or at least I haven't found a way to do it :P ).

I don't know what the answer to this is.... a lot of people are just busy (especially during the summer, me included) and the queue (which I have no idea what it looks like) is supposedly huge. You either have to get some of the staff to dedicate some time to start looking at covers or start getting some new staff members that have time on board.

Maybe that needs to be revised.... if only there was someone out there that could change such rules.

I know that gurus cannot add covers to the site. ;) But at least rockabilly1983's covers were usually added almost instantly (a day or two after he posted them to the forums). Which means they either got priotized or added without much of a thought.

So far only 32 covers have been added to the site in all of 2019. (Not counting dublicate entries / identical covers, that just have a different case format.) 7 are from admins, so were added without approval process. 14 are from rockabilly1983 and 11 from others.

That makes 25 approved covers (at best) or 2,5 covers per cover admin in 8 month.

To be clear, I don't want to call anyone out. I am sure everyone has their reasons. :)
I just think blaming the upload cue is misleading. It suggests that you just have to wait a bit longer for your cover to be approved. (NOTE: It used to be 2 Weeks according to the FAQ.) But as it looks right now, even if the upload cue is just around 100 covers (and it is probably much more), you will be waiting for years...

So a more truthfull anwser would be, that you simply cannot contribute to the site at the moment.

Biggest slowdown besides the buziness is that to check the covers one has to first download them, and people upload such garbage that it's not funny, so after a while one gets monotonous.

That's why covers of Admins (which are always good) and members whose covers are known to be good tend to get fastracked.

If member shows that their covers are up to par we tend to quite fast make them Gurus, or at least try to remember them for faster checking.

That's why I suggest that people instead upload to Mediafire and link to the boards so we see the preview as that usually tells quite easily is the cover worth closer look.
Or if you want to submit bigger batch use Box as it has free mass download option.

ON THAT NOTE:
If someone thinks their covers are up to par please do upload to Mediafire and post to a topic named something like please judge my cover, and I will check them.
Decent tries will get more detailed encouragement, but if the cover is crap the feedback will be short and brutal.

I haven't been posting to the site because, when I post, there's no thumbnail image until snowcone fix's it. I'm just waiting for the site to get fixed.

If this gets you uploading again, let's make that a priority  :P

How would we go about submitting covers for Games not listed as we have covers that we're sure people will appreciate scans of, though our covers that are own creation/scan & edit may not be as good as the admins(Our Aussie Green Version has been popular as printed cover especially with Aussie labelled Fan Hack carts) they are still better than much of whats floating around for the games

Ready covers for official games (ie no repros or unofficial translations) upload to site as closest matching name.

Raw materials, repros, "englisified" covers for japanese only games, not quite up to par covers, ect Medifire/Box route.
