Cover Galaxy Archive
Snowcone:
Jason of Cover Galaxy was kind enough to send me a torrent of their entire archive. I have pulled down the covers posted in the forums at this point, but unfortunately these are named in a numerical format and not associated with game or platform. There are 22,000 of them. There is another 110GB of uploaded covers that are named somewhat appropriately. Obviously its a massive undertaking to import all of these so I'm coming to you all to see how we should go about validating them and getting them posted on the site. With something close to 50,000 files, doing it manually seems like it won't scale.
Thoughts?

Wow! I say, make Arseen go through them all.

:P
Maybe divide them (first the 22000) in to smaller chuncks, maybe 100 or 1000.
Then each Cover Admin or Cover Guru (or the ones that have spare time), can take a chunck, and check and rename them, and then upload them to the site (or the upload to Mediafire or Box the ones that are not good enough).
Yes it will be long process (14 Admins/Gurus have been active within few weeks) but apart from just dumping them as a huge free for all torrent, I can't think any other way.
BTW: 50 000 covers / 14 handlers / 10 covers each daily = 1 year.
I think I could keep up that pace on average.

If needed, I would be up for helping with organizing the files, such as naming the games, and sorting the files by system. I'm not sure if that would actually help speed up the process up or not

What data about the images would be most helpful to speeding up the review and posting process?
