I know it seems a little redundant to put a case within a case, but my game organizing mind wants a nice way to display my FDS games (loose, w/manual, or CIB) without them just laying around waiting to be broken. So, in comes the UGC.

I had started a project earlier in the year using DS cases, which worked but required way more customization of the cases than I cared to do for 50+ games (at the time I started that, I had MAYBE 10-12) So I decided to make use of some empty UGCs I had laying around the house.

CIB games fit perfectly with no modification needed, and loose jewel cases only require 2 pieces on the inside to be trimmed back to fit horizontally and some foam glued to the front cover to hold it in.

Artwork for the cover and back portion is from - http://www.gamingalexandria.com/highquality/fds/ - and I took some inspiration from what was currently on the site, but have put my own spin on things. The "shield" in the bottom left corner on the back is my YT channel logo, easily covered up :D

Looks great, altough my space saving semi-OCD would hate that much wasted space but I could see myself using DVD cases.
Same size but half the spine.

Anyway keep this up and show us progress.

Dang! DVD cases never crossed my mind, but I've got some laying around to try ... I've only done these two so far, so it wouldn't be too hard to swap. My only fear is that the CIB games in the plastic outer casing may have a bit too much bulk for the case to close. Again, I haven't tried it so it may work just fine. I'll give it a go, and report back haha.

To switch from UGC to DVD case you'll basicly need to just cut spine width in half.

Yeah, I threw a loose jewel case inside the one I have laying around, which unfortunately has the raised rim around the disk area so that didn't fit immediately, but could with some cutting of that rim. The downside is that CIB with with plastic outer shell just doesn't fit at all, the case won't even close.

I also tried out a Switch game case by removing the tabs for manuals, and that doesn't work either. Not even just the jewel case.

These look great!  I'd have a hard time justifying consuming the space required for this, but I'm seriously considering it now.  Those little spines on the FDS jewel cases are so tiny, and I've even gone so far as to make English versions for each of them  :-\

Thanks Wiggy! Yeah, I've looked at DVD cases, PS3 cases, even Nintendo Switch cases to see what would fit them. DVD and PS3 could work with a good amount of modification, but I just don't have the time to modify 50+ cases to fit -- then if you want to keep them in their out plastic casing, DVD and PS3 no longer work.

Admittedly the UGCs take up much more space, and there is a lot of unused space inside (although, honestly not much more than a Famicom cart or N64 cart) but fits the FDS game no matter how you collect them - CIB, loose jewel case, or loose w/manual. CIB requires no modification at all, while loose case only requires trimming back 2 little pieces. Then if you wanna switch it up and put other games in, you haven't destroyed a UGC to the point of no return, like I did with my NES games :( haha
