Thank you for the reply! I just finally remembered to check this out.

So I still want to add some games to the SNES classic, but am trying to remember what the best games are. I found my old list from back when I had the SD2SNES.

I've updated the list with your suggestions Sheep. What else am I missing guys? Any games I have here that you think suck and don't deserve to be on a best games list? I'd like to hear your opinion

Thanks in advance

Well, on Genesis if you're a fan of vertical and horizontally scrolling shooters, you'll have plenty:

MUSHA
Gaiares
Thunder Force III
Lightening Force (Thunder Force IV)
Truxton
Eliminate Down (Mega Drive JP)
Wings of Wor
Sagaia
Aero Blasters
Fire Shark
Zero Wing (Mega Drive EU - OK, not a "Great" shooter, but worth it just for the "All your base are belong to us" during the intro!)

If that's too many shooters, then enjoy some of these other Genres

Castlevania Bloodlines
Contra Hard Corps
Streets of Rage (all 3, but 2 is usually the most well regarded)
Gunstar Heroes
Vectorman and Vectorman 2 (Wow, did those games push the technical limits of the Genesis!)

and then there are the Sega Classics

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
AfterBurner
Super Monaco GP
Golden Axe
Phantasy Star series
Revenge of Shinobi, Shadow Dancer, and Shinobi III
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse
Herzog Zwei

and some Sports games really worth checking out (all were EA Sports titles except for NBA JAM TE!):

John Madden Footbal '92 (back when Madden football was fun!)
NHL Hockey and NHL Hockey '94
NBA Jam TE
Mutant League Football (and Hockey)
NBA LIVE '95

and if THAT list of Genesis games doesn't keep you busy enough, you can always add these:

Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster
Dynamite Heady
Decap Attack
Ristar
QuackShot stariing Donald Duck
Batman
Aladdin
Desert Strike and Jungle Strike
Road Rash and Road Rash II
MERCS
Rambo III
Street Fighter II: Championship Edition
Mortal Kombat II
Comix Zone
Toe Jam and Earl

Thank you sir! I will update a Genesis section of the list. Also, I'm going to omit some games to avoid dupes. No point in having 2 versions of Final Fight series. I'll go with the uncensored SFam version. I'll take out Street Fighter 2 since it's pointless with Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

I'm also curious if you guys have recommendations about the best versions of games. I know for instance that for the original Mortal Kombat, I'd prefer to play the Genesis version since it's uncensored. I know that for most games that came out on both SNES and Sega that people usually prefer SNES for a slight visual and sound upgrade. Any other games that came out for both systems were you guys prefer the Genesis version?

You are correct - SNES was known for it's larger color palette and sample-based sound. In the case of Street Fghter II, the SNES version just pops as it is more colorful. I think you'd find the same with Mortal Kombat, lack of blood aside. For the Sports games that EA released as multi-platform titles, they generally played better on Genesis.

In general the SNES is more colorful, can display larger sprites, and while subjective, a lot of people do like the sound more. The Genesis, however, can move more sprites without encountering slowdown (which is why it was the shmup lover's dream machine), and in the right hands, a sound producer could make the Yamaha FM Synthesis chip do amazing things - personally, I used to love putting on my headphones and listening to the 'Heatwaves' theme in Super Monaco GP's sound test mode. It was truly Golden to have been a very young adult during the 16-bit console war. I was the Sega guy, while my kid brother always had Nintendo consoles - so naturally, the Genesis was better. ;)
