I had a pretty good week myself. Theres a thrift store just 2 buildings down from where I work called Value Village that I stop at daily and from Monday to Saturday I found something good every day.

My findings were:

- Genesis Model 2 CIB with Sonic 1 & 2 and Thunder Force 2 CIB.
- 32X with Doom, Moto Cross, Star Wars Arcade, Virtua Fighter, and Virtua Racing Deluxe CIB
- Coleco Vision + Atari Expansion + Super Challenge Controller Set with Donkey Kong, Mouse Trap, Space Fury, and Super Challenge Baseball
- 2 PS2 Guncon 2 controllers
- GBA SP
- Sonic 2 Tiger Electronic Game

All for roughly $50! Best week Ive had at Value Village so far!

I haven't had any luck at the Goodwill near me. All that's there game-wise are broken Rock Band controllers and PS2-era sports games. I've only managed to grab 2 Mario/Duck Hunt and Baseball NES carts there one time, but that's the best luck I've had. I pass by it on my way home from about every place I go since almost all my friends live north of me.

Goodwill for me is totally random, some times I hit a jackpot and some times its just a dud.
Most of the time I just find Xbox, N64 and PSOne games. But some times a few gems from the other eras pop up.

The biggest things I've found have been:
Bangai-O (DC), Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 & 2 (DC), Mario's Time Machine (NES) cart Only thou, and Assassin's Creed Limited Edition (360) which I have kept for my collection, I've also found 3 original black boarder copies of Final Fantasy VII(PS) and mint copies of Brigandine(PS) and Kartia(PS) which I turned around and put up on eBay. :)

i usually have petty good luck with thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales. I found that Arc and Goodwill can be hit or miss at times. Like MedaForce said, can be totally random. I did find Mega Man 1 there for $2.00. Yesterday hit the flea market and got Mario All Stars for $5.00.

How often do you people go out hunting? I usually go to the flea market every other weekend, and thrift stores once a month. There arn't many garage sales here in the winter but come spring/summer, everyone is having them.

Whenever I have cash really. I'd be stopping by every week or two otherwise.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
You guys could do me a favor when you're out hunting. To complete my Genesis collection (no not a full set of all games released, just the full set of games that I want) I'm missing only two games. Splatterhouse 3 and The Punisher. Splatterhouse 3 goes for ridiculous prices on eBay, even as a loose cart and without a manual. I don't really need it boxed as we have a cover that I can print and buy a spare case. But > $40 for a loose game is really pushing it. The Punisher pops up every now and then on ebay.com but usually the seller won't ship outside the U.S, so no luck here again.

If you're out looking for games, maybe you could keep your eyes peeled if you see one of those.

You know I have seen The Punisher at the flea market, and i will be going this weekend so I will see if it is still around. What is your spending limit? Less then $40? Less than $10?

Saw a Sega Sports NFL 2K (Dreamcast) case yesterday and bought it for $1.06 (tax included) at a GoodWill store.

"Craig, that's not exactly a great find..."

No, maybe the case was not a good find, but it sure was a suprise to find Sonic Adventures inside  ;D

NES –
Contra Force - $1.00
Donkey Kong Classics W/Box & Manual - $4.99

I've gotten some awesome deals at Target in the past. I think it's one of the only stores that will even bother to put videogames on clearance.
