I used to run an old tech school, we just brought HUNDREDS of CRT monitors to the recycling center. They were all in working condition, the average size was 22". I would have happily sent you one, I was sad to see them all go.

Oh man, that just kills me! I really appreciate the thought though. :) Yeah, not too many people look for these old things, so I wouldn't say it's common, but when you're playing old games it's really the best way to go. Some games have registry fixes to bump up the resolution, but it really bugs me that the textures and HUD tend to look very stretched and pixelated on hi-res monitors - you don't gain anything by increasing the resolution, even at the engine level. To me, it always looks better to play games on the screens and hardware that they were intended for.  Luckily, in this case, it was free.  ;D

Free is ALWAYS the right price haha! Yeah I can totally understand that way of thinking. I bought a old 42" screen for all of my old consoles like my SNES, Genesis, etc. I bought an even OLDER t.v. from the '70s just to play my Odyssey/ Atari era games on, but it never dawned on me to save an old CRT monitor for classic PC gaming - now I'll be out on the hunt for one!
