The case no one asked for but I certainly needed!

I have several Famicom Disk System games that are case/game with the manual but missing their outer plastic casing. I needed a solution to house both the game and a manual so I made a "prototype" using one of the thicker manuals I have (Family Computer Golf: Japan Course) and to my amazement, it worked. I've now ordered replacement DS cases from Nintendo and plan to house my entire FDS library this way.

First, I cut the DS slot out of the case

Measured and cut some foam core board

Roughed up some artwork (HQ art is scarce, so moving forward on my real project I will be scanning all of my games to use)

And put it all together!

I have some cleaning up to do with the final versions -- something to lay down in the back as to cover up the hole left by the DS slot. I also need to work on the actual cover, this was just something thrown together quickly to see if it would even work. Somehow it did!

Very cool! I had a collection I had scanned of FDS stuff you can use if you like -

Wish I still had them as I'd love to redo them and keep the RAWs in 1200dpi :(But these are still very usable.

Very cool! Thanks a bunch for these! My collection isn't anywhere near this large, so this will be a big help.

I know this isn't getting a ton of traction, so this may go unseen --- but if you have an FDS collection and looking for an alternate casing method, what would be some things you would want on the cover art?

FDS Logo, Game Name in English (possibly the Japanese text as well?) --- what about the back?

Thanks!

For me it’s just about having an English spine. I did so for both my FDS and 64DD games.

Exactly! I want to be able to know what I'm grabbing before pulling it off the shelf.
