Hi guys, I'm trying to create cardboard boxes for my homebrew/hack games, but when printed out a 300 dpi file the logo's etc look good but not "crisp" good. Like the original nintendo boxes. I've tried to read as much as possible on the nintandbox site, but all in English so hard to understand... There's this one guy jojo or something. He makes absolutely sick boxes even for consoles etc. From what I can understand he says for a "pro" look you need 400 dpi?? When I try to create an entirely new photoshop file at 400 dpi I'm not able to create the needed a3 measurement for the box. When I try to recreate super nintendo logo for example I have no clue how to make it 400 dpi. Can somebody here try to explain me how this works? Much appreciated Kind regards Tom |

Whoever that guy is, he’s wrong. 300dpi is indeed bottom of the barrel in terms of print ready resolution, but that’s like saying a Ferrari Enzo is slower than a La Ferrari. 300DPI will most definitely get the job done and well. The issue is VERY likely on your end (no offense). Either by way of paper choice, print settings, actual printer quality, inks used (cheap china crap, versus OEM), resolution of the actual logos within the file itself, etc. What do you mean when you say that you can’t set the document size properly? Simply create a new document, adjust both the resolution and page size within the document setup window that apprears (you may need to manually define the dimensions if there’s no preset for A3), then hit go. As far as finding and using high resolution logos, get yourself vector drawn versions whenever and wherever possible. Many are available here on the site. They’re effectively infinite resolution. Simply placing them into your raster document (Photoshop, Gimp, etc.) will afford you the ability to scale them as much as you’d like without compromising the quality, no matter what the document resolution is set to. |

Hi thx for the reply! I think I solved the "400 dpi a3 file" problem. when I tried to implement a box scan a3 at 300 dpi in to my 400 dpi a3 file it was always smaller... But now I understand it is because of the extra 100 dpi the 300 dpi original image is in fact smaller. I'm learning myself everything from reading and watching youtube tutorials. I've never had any education on photoshop etc, so as you can imagine I don't really understand everything yet. |

No prob! Been using photoshop myself since 1994, and I’m alway happy to answer whatever questions I can :) |

Hi Wiggy, Do you have any recommendations for a good upscaler? I'm using alien skin blow up 3 atm, but maybe you can suggest a better one? |
