Hello! It's my first post here, nice to meet you all. There's a question I have, I was wondering if someone could help me out.

I recently got a request to create a custom cover for a certain game, for which I'm planning to charge. I wouldn't do the cover from scratch however, as I'd need a scan of the original cover to work with.

I know that the FAQ says it's a bad idea to sell pre-printed covers, but is it ok to charge for an image (png) of a custom design which uses some edited TheCoverProject images? Thanks!

The problem is you are profiting off of Others hard work scanning a good image and putting it together.

While I have edited covers as well. It was only for my personal use.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I've been thinking about only accepting the job if the purcharser sends their own scans of the original artwork.
