I traded in a LOT of doubles and found myself with a large chunk of store credit...decided to finally pull the trigger on one of these...

Only problem is I can't figure out if it's US or Japanese model.

Speaking from Nordic country:
Even we know summer is not ending after August.

Grats on joining the Neo Geo owners club. First off, don't worry about the region. Just get a Bios mod done to improve the function and life of the system.

Invest in an MVS converter as well. They are pricey, but it'll save you in the long run since MVS carts are generally significantly cheaper than AES carts.

I don't share all my pickups but this one is too good to not share.  Muv Luv Kickstarter delivered this week.  Visited a Gamestop to pickup a copy of Shantae for Vita and they also gave me the soundtrack the person traded in.  What a good week!

Some recent Sega pickups.  Atomic runner is an obscure early 90's run 'n gun that I'd never played.  It has continuous scrolling, which takes some getting used to as you can't go back, but it's a pretty good game with excellent animation & graphics.

Farewell to "summer pickups" was supposed to be the emphasis.  It was late, I was tired.

I dread the 113 degree August days that are coming to Alabama.

Gotta love Seattle weather.  Always between 75-80 in the summer.  Perfect temp!

Normally, I understand the reason for companies giving cartridges a different color (SNES DOOM is red because it's bloody and violent, Ocarina of Time is gold because it's like a treasure and also it's a series tradition, Killer Instinct on SNES is black because it's edgy, DK64 is yellow because of bananas..), but why on earth Ubisoft made Rayman 2 green?

anyway, the guy who sold me this, send me the game inside a VHS case; that's nice! I got all nostalgic from the days of rental games.
Something, something about future;

Not exactly a normal pickup post... But I'm counting it. I ordered a custom shell for my switch months ago and attempted to do the swap. Everything went well except for the left joycon. Nothing about it wanted to work right. I struggled with it so much, it was really demoralizing me. I ended up just setting my switch aside and only really making minor attempts to get it working, never with success.

Gave up earlier this week and ordered a replacement left joycon and received it today. Just finished the swap and tested it. Completed an entire Mario Kart race with no problems. I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am. I actually had an adrenaline surge when I booted it up to test.

All that being said, fuck the joycons. This is by far the most difficult mod I've ever attempted. Tiny ass ribbon cables, cramped spaces, 3 layers of components. Would have been easier if I had to solder it all.

Anyways, I'm so happy right now!

I did this mod myself a few months back, but only went with the Joy Cons. Definitely ended up being more work than anticipated. What I thought was going to be a 15-20 minute swap, ended up taking me about 45 minutes. There's definitely a lot more going on inside those Joy Cons than you might think and everything is packed pretty tight. But all said and done, I absolutely love the end result and the D-pad actually feels and works great. Much better than I expect from a 3rd party shell kit. Wish they had more options for solid colours though, I'm not a big fan of translucent.

Inside was a bonus game.

Really shocked to see these for $0.99

Took them home charged them up and they work just fine.
