I don't really have anything unexpectedly rare, but there have been a few nice surprises.  When I bought a CIB copy of Super Metroid from my neighbor for $2 back in grade school, I never imagined that the game would become valuable in the future.

I also have a CIB copy of Alien vs. Predator for the Jaguar which includes all 3 inlays.  I actually pieced the set together over a period of time and never spent much money on it.  The last time I checked, the price was getting up there, but I have no idea what it goes for today.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Lucienne's Quest on 3DO.

Got a huge stack of 3DO games for free. Not being a 3DO collector in particular I was blown away with how expensive this game is!  :o

I don't know, I have quite a few rare games.  Snatcher for the sega cd, ninja gaiden trilogy for snes, r-type 3 for snes, , princess tomato and the salad kingdom for the nes.  I have quite a few games that I had no idea that were rare.  I would actually have to look at all my games and find out what ones are rare.

I didn't realize it, but apparently Futurama for Xbox is exceedingly rare, it goes for $80-100 dollars complete. It was a game I figured would be mega cheap, but its skyrocketed in recent years.

I am sure I got a bit but I do not keep up with current price trends on my collection.  The one off the top of my head is Bubble Bobble 2 for NES.  Got it CIB waaaaaaaay back about 15-20 years ago for like $10.  Gave the box and vooklet away as I had a friend who was obsessed with both NES games.  Kinda wish I kept it now but oh well, at least I got the cart still.  I know I sold off some games that became high dollar items but hey, you cant tell the future so oh well.  Oh and Ibara on PS2.  Like I said if I went and checked current pricing trends im sure I would be very surprised at the current price of a lot of my stuff.

I am going to go with something more modern.  I was floored when I found out that my CE of Ar no Surge for Vita was worth over $300.  I can't remember what I purchased it for from NISA.  I don't think it was more than $60.

Turns out it was a pretty limited run but was not made public.  I haven't played it and now I may never since it it worth so much.

I sold my DKC Competition Cart a few years ago for $500. I like money more than games. Plus, I made an official looking Wii Virtual Console of it to play.

Keio: Flying Squadron for Sega CD.  I bought it used complete several years ago for around $100.  Which was bout $50 less than the going rate at that time.  Now it's ballooned to stupid levels.

Honestly? I couldn't tell you.

I mean, I have an complete set (game, box, manual, misc. pamphlets) of Uniracers, Equinox and the JP version of Chrono Trigger, GoldenEye 64 (Player's Choice), and a couple of the Dragon Quest remakes on the DS, but I don't think they're exceedingly rare or anything. Well, maybe the DQ games.

I'd probably need to have someone much nerdier than I to take a look and tell me which games I have that are super rare.

Olympic Soccer for the U.S. Sega Saturn.  There are numerous soccer games for the Saturn, but this one seems to have been produced in very small quantities.  I bought one last year for $20, and when I looked it up on Ebay there were no current or completed listings for it.  I thought that was odd, because there are numerous listings for every other sports game for the system.  So far this year there have been a few listings, with sales prices as high as $140, and according to Game Values Now (which now seems defunct), there were only 15 or so total listings in the past six years.

The PS1 version is quite common, as well as the European Saturn release.  For some reason it just seems very few were released in the U.S.
