A thread has started over at NeoGAF encouraging people to mock up covers of games in the minimalist style of Criterion Collection box arts for movies.  The results in my opinion are excellent for the most part.

I'd be cool of some ideas like this could filter into places like The Cover Project.

Personally I love the Killer 7 cover. That looks just beyond awesome! I tried registering on neogaf to contact the user who did the Killer 7 cover and invite all the guys who made covers there to visit our site and maybe merge our templates with their awesome artwork. But activating the account takes ages. I'm still not able to post there.
