[Game Manuals]

Is there a source for game manual scans other than http://www.replacementdocs.com The problem I have with getting the manual scans from replacementdocs is they watermark the scans, which I understand their reasoning. But I prefer to cleanup the scans for myself to get better prints, just like the cover project does with game case covers...

Thanks

We do scans occasionally when requested.

I've found most of their watermarks can be deleted from within the PDF reader. I just click on the watermark and press delete. Some of the older posted manuals have the watermark added to the actual image and can't be deleted, but most are easy to clear out. As far as other sites are concerned it's a bit hit-and-miss. nintendoage.com has many manuals available, ratigators.com has many Sega games, DP Library and Vimms Lair both have a limited selection of manuals but sometimes you'll find one there that no one else has. emumovies.com has many manuals but they also watermark everything, and those aren't removable. gamesdatabase.org has a lot of manuals, but most of them are from emumovies or replacementdocs. I found many manuals I couldn't find anywhere else at freegamemanuals.com but the site is no longer there. It can still be accessed via the wayback machine here: https://web.archive.org/web/20140510201742/http://www.freegamemanuals.com/manuals/?page=0&searchquery= but the search function is broken so it's hard to navigate the list. For newer manuals like X360 and Wii, many publishers post them on their websites. I have a ton of other bookmarks to random websites that have a few manuals here and there that I haven't been able to track down elsewhere, but none of them have very large collections. It is weird the places you can stumble across a good manual, like http://www.thegameisafootarcade.com/arcade-games/ for instance. It's some random arcade in Pennsylvania, but the website has a pretty good collection of manuals, including some I've never seen.

tylerbgood ,

Wow, thanks for the info. I did not realize that some of the watermarks on the newer Replacementdocs.com manuals could be removed. I tried to remove one of the watermarks on an older manual but it was embedded, I assumed ALL their manuals would be the same.

Ideally, it would be nice if their was a manual - companion site to the cover project...

Again thanks for your manual sources.
