You have raws for North and South?!  Sweet!  I just picked that game up a few weeks back and would LOVE to have a cover for it!  Of course, this is the US release so maybe you only have PAL box scans?

Speaking of PAL, I just checked that Puzznic PAL version and that one might be a bit too rich for my blood!    Definitely a more graphic cover than the US one so I can't make any promises there but I'll see.

No I'm not scared away, just need a better scanner and software, I'll try it again later been really busy today.

600DPI and descreen (aka derasteration/moire removal) usually does the trick.
And remember straight and flat (heavy book or something) scans are best.

Yeah just checked, rounds seal so PAL box.

Also, I'd love to have a great Spy Hunter cover!  As you may have seen in this thread I put something together but it's nowhere near the quality that you would put out, so go for it!

Would also love a NARC cover, Larry!  I still need to get my Krion Conquest box scanned.  It had the top and bottom flaps cut off (was a rental display I think) but front, back, and spine are all in great scannable quality.

So, how do you cover artist guys go about fixing creases and tears in the scans?  I've been working with Arseen's scans of Dragon Warrior and redoing the back I'm okay with (in fact I had to redraw the whole thing twice as I didn't notice until I'd finished that the original colour wasn't really yellow like in the scan but rather an orange-brown...I'm guessing Arseen's boxes have a fair amount of sun fading?), but redoing the front is well beyond my abilities.  Below is what I've done so far, so if anyone else wants to take a crack at patching up the front (or giving me some hints on how to do it) that'd be awesome.  I really want a decent cover for this game!

No sunfading, my scanner just insists putting on auto color correct, and somertimes I forget to un-tab it, and the colors come of bit wrong (OK in  this case very wrong). 

Anyhow, excelent work on the cover.
I'd only suggest replacing the Nintendo seal on the back if you find better one.

Spot heal, smudge and alot of redrawing at high zoom with colour matched to the closest pixel.  Oh, and alot of patience!

Thanks for the advice, guys.  Guess I have to work a bit more with GIMP's editing tools.

And cheers for the compliment, Arseen!  I'll see if I can find a better seal when I finish with the front.

Also, I spent today putting Puzznic NTSC together:



Shouldn't need too much touching up since I redid much of it from scratch.  The back was fairly easy but the front was a pain in the ass, lol.  Took me a lot longer than I was expecting but I think it turned out well.

Edit: Something looked a bit 'off' on the cover; the square on the right side was too long compared to the rest of the squares on the front (I didn't stretch this cover so I drew in the extra on each side) so I shaved the edge off and made it match the size of the other shapes.
