I don't own either of those, so it might be a while before I get to them!

Camelot's Sports Games for the GBA, Mario Golf: Advance Tour and Mario Tennis: Power Tour!

Probably I'll do Minish Cap next, then maybe ALTTP/4S, then maybe the Pokemon games. :)

Xander, these covers are fantastic. Would very much like these to be standard over the other GBA covers for my collection. Any chance of a template or series of uploads to the site? I'm seriously wanting my entire GBA collection to look like this. Thank you for your hard work. =)

Thanks BigSchmid,

The more of these I do, the more nervous I become about all the flaws that still remain with the template. I originally adapted the template from a custom template ( https://vgboxart.com/resource/9730/nintendo-gba-template/ ), but I have remade or adjusted some of its components.

If I were to release a template, I would want to recreate all of the elements from the ground up, and have multiple ESRB icons available to toggle.

Recently, I've also been using actual UPC codes, which I wasn't doing before using this useful tool: https://barcode.tec-it.com/en/UPCA?data=008888143413 A number of my old box designs all have the same, incorrect, UPC code, before I was made aware of this tool.

Another potential issue is that there isn't exactly a "standard" to adhere to while making these. For the most part, I don't recreate the back covers of games, I try to "standardize" to a title, blurb, 3 bullet points worth of text and two screen shots, but sometimes I deviate from that. So long as my collection looks more or less similar, I tend to be flexible in my approach. Really, I think the main focus should be on the front cover and spine (hence why I've neglected the back cover, in some ways). I want to make beautiful front covers using the highest quality graphics I can find and eliminate some of the stretching and distorting that I see on other box designs (including the overwide silver GBA panel). There's also the added complexity of the EU box size, which I haven't designed anything for just yet.

I really appreciate your reply. As I've now assembled more than 30 of these covers, I'm actually getting to a point where people other than me may actually adopt these for their personal use, which is exciting. I still have some key games/series to get to: Pokemon, F-Zero, Kirby, MegaMan, but I've been very happy with my rate of progress, especially over the past two weeks.

The more responses like this I get, the more likely I will be to assemble a proper template file for general use. I just want to make sure there's adequate demand first to encourage me to spend the time in creating a template of sufficient quality.  Again, thanks for the reply!

EDIT: Oh, in case you missed it, my complete selection of covers is found here, for now: https://xand0r.imgur.com/ I doubt they'd be accepted onto this site in the condition that most of them are in right now. But I haven't inquired thus far. Plus, by any objective standard, I'm a newbie on this site. There are far more entrenched and serious collectors than me who are doing amazing work at making genuine recreations which are certainly better for mass adoption than my personal hobby project of the past 2 years. I wouldn't presume to supplant their efforts.

Well, my issue is that I'd like to have one look per system. Wiggy has some fantastic GBA covers and his art style in them is beautiful but I don't own anything above MS Paint with regards to getting high-quality Photoshop this and that to even throw on a template. Not only don't I have the tools, I doubt I have the rig to make it happen. So I'm left in a brutal position of having over 100 GBA games and no idea if I'm ever going to be able to continue collecting them without jumping from template to template. I know asking someone to do full sets is ludicrous. Like...I've seen Wiggy's N64 stuff and ShadowFox's Genesis stuff and collectors of those two systems can breathe easy knowing every game is taken care of for them. That's awesome. For handhelds, I don't see the demand for that and worse, I fear most people with the tools to make it happen, just don't wanna dedicate the time.

So, I guess, in a roundabout way, me asking for the template is a shot in the dark of MAYBE being able to have the ability to have continuity throughout my GBA catalog. I'm just OCD about it. And actually, I'm perfectly alright with being OCD about it. If you were to spend some time refining a template you are proud of and then either making more covers or allowing me to make mine (though I fear mine would be lacking), I can promise your hard work would be used.

I can't promise there are others like me who would make it their standard GBA cover. But "noob" or not, I feel like you should be proud of what you've started and if you are passionate about the covers and the system, maybe see how far you can push yourself. ;)

Get Paint.net.
It's free, easy to use and doesn't require that great PC.

Those are some really cool custom Game Boy Advance covers, Xander! Those covers look very similar to Nintendo DS covers. It's so great to have another contributor. Keep up the good work!

Link to Wiigy's work? :)

To be clear, there are tons of people making GBA covers in this site's accepted style. Do you take issue with those?

I certainly intend to make custom covers for ym complete GBA collection insofar as that extends to games that I care about. I won't be making Lizzie McGuire cases or anything though, so I certainly doubt that I could cover 1000+ games. How many games does your GBA catalog consist of?

Thanks man! My initial idea was to mimic DS covers -- since they are in DS cases after all -- so that they'd look nice on the shelf next to other DS games.

There you go, Xander. To answer your question, I have a little over 100 GBA games and I'd say I have more of a curated collection. No Lizzie McGuire titles for me. Stuff I'm proud to own and play and stuff I'm a fan of. At the end of the day, if you created a template you were proud of, I'd use it. There are others who have done GBA covers and I like them. I think I might like yours most is all. =) Cheers.

Thanks for the link. Those are definitely some sweet custom covers.

I've got about 50 games that I want to make covers for, so I'll probably be done my own collection sooner rather than later. Once I'm done, and hopefully before that, I'll put together a PSD template file for others to use.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Nothing since Zelda.

I still need to get my latest batch printed.

Finally got my new designs onto some empty DS cases. As usual, I overlooked one, still need to do Mario Kart, though now I am out of empty DS cases, I'll need to find more!

Now I want to do Pokemon, F-Zero, maybe Boktai.
