I was wondering what most people here have their games sorted by. Some people have them by system, then alphabetical, while others put all games for all consoles together and just sort them alphabetically.

My collection was sorted by console until a post by (IIRC) wshbrngr. In it he said that the games look nice all intermingled or something along those lines. After reading that, I reorganized my games to be more tolerant of each other.

System then name for me, with no breaks between systems. So when the last 'Z' of a system finishes, the first 'A' of the next starts. I used to leave a gap but severe lack of space has put paid to that.

I do it by console and then alphabetically (by series). For example, all the James Bond games are together under 007 even though there's 007: Nightfire, From Russia with Love etc.

Also, by console are in separate parts of my room at the minute. But that's only because space is a real issue in my tiny little box of a room.

Also, some special editions (and games that come in different size boxes) are put in strategic places (either above where it should go) or at the end depending on the size of it.

Some part of me wishes to do it all alphabetically. However, as space is a bit of an issue, I can't afford to have wasted space by putting DS cases next to DVD cases etc. Also, I like how some consoles (PAL PS2 for example) have a very uniform spine which looks pretty cool all together.

I do it by System -> Genre -> Publisher

For instance, all my Saturn fighting games are on the same shelf, with SNK fighters, then Capcom fighters, etc.

I keep my games together by system, then Alphabetical.
If I could I would do from newest systems to oldest or vice-versa, however because of the way I built my shelves I need to keep certain systems in certain spots

I go by system, then by series in no particular order. I'm without shelving space right now and most of my games are stacked vertically, so I usually stick my "now playing" on the top. (except for the psp, I've only got 8 games so it's not much work going to the bottom of the pile :P )

So far I do have all my dvd-style games in the same general area, (ps2/xbox/gc/psp), then all my portables/smaller games in my top drawer (gba/ds/ps1/n64/random accessories)

Generally I go by system and alphabetically. But like a few others I ran out of shelve space, so right know I just put them somewhere on the shelve with the most recent "now playing"-games on top. It looks like ass and I don't like it but I'll have to buy two new showcases  until I can change that.

With my lack of space, the only games I have out are for the 360, wii and ps3.  All the rest of my games are in many boxes in my closet.

All of my games are arranged by system, then alphabetically. The boxes for the games I'm currently playing sit next to the system its for.

Well you could sort them chronologically or autobiographically :) But I guess alphabetically is the most obvious and easiest to navigate if you're looking for a game.

My system is Chaos and the more chaotic I get the more sorted my collection is in the end... ;D

Joking aside maybe I'll try the alphabet's way....

System -> Alphabetical

There is an exception, however.  My PS1 and PS2 games are intermingled so to speak, since the spines look so similar.
