After watching Highway Thru Hell...WTF?!
wiggy:
Very little is required to get a license in the US.
There’s a parallel parking test (which is about as unimportant a test as I can imagine), and then a road test. The requirements of the road test vary based on which moron is sitting in the car with you. The first time I took the test, the guy who was conducting the test was very particular about even the slightest details. The second time I took it, all I was instructed to do was drive around the block in a residential neighborhood. Literally 3 minutes of driving in vertically zero traffic.
There’s also a written test that’s extremely easy.
There are no inclimate weather driving conditions test requirements.

You don't have to proof that you can drive on ice to get driving lisence in Canada!??
And not parking exam or reverse driving?
Is that true?
Is is it true in US as well.
Here in Finland winter driving or driving in dark are not part of the driving exam (unless you take the exam in winter) but we get extensive winter driving and driving in dark lessons while in driving school.
But both reversing and parking (both parallel and normal (both head on and in reverse parking) are.
And at least in the school I took they insisted we kept practicing until we knew what we did and they offered more (paid of course) lessons until both the driver and teacher were happy.
So how about in your country.

Wait... You mean you don't get your license in a box of cereal like we do here in the U.S.??
BTW.. Fun, classic Top Gear, Finnish racing vid here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bmqdnx5R1U)

Actually I drive similar sand/gravel road to work.
Speed limit is 80, but no police bother to measure the speeds...
8 kilometers in under 5 minutes is normal.
