How do you feel about VGBoxArt.com?

You all have a strong fucking point, VGBA is full of newfags and noobs with deliberate lack of skill who just rely on trolling and being immature idiots in order to socialite on the site...
Thus driving many great artists away, only a few remain that actually do things properly.

... and show me anything you find there in the way you dudes described VGBA to be... Most of those artists aren't active, although having their presence back in the day was what we accustomed to... Those great boxarts were standard, now the site is clogging up with inable artists with no direction at all, and to make things even better, our Admin decides to die sometimes and comes back miraculously and randomly like once a year.

You sound very arrogant XCore, you say they have a strong point but I think you missed it. Linking them to a few "high ranked" artists' author page doesn't really prove anything except that there are good artists on the website.

Their point was that they feel the website doesn't provide any professional medium, it's a website full of teenagers who submit covers for "entertainment" purposes. Meaning, you members don't go beyond the website itself, hence it being a hobby site. The members of the website have a choice whether or not to provide a printable, the majority of the website does not. Which makes the covers themselves solely just to look at, not to print out and use.

Well, this is new, I never thought this little site of ours would be a subject of attention on another internet forum.

I have been a member of this website for almost three years and I wholly accept your criticisms that we have a lack of quality control, we have an admin who doesn't care anymore or atleast has been very busy to care, but it also seems that you people are misjudging this website for a cover replacement site, we are are not scanners, we only showcase our "art" here, it's our hobby. It also occurs to me that you all have only focused on the bad submissions, have you not seen our Hall Of Fame or Masterworks? It's utterly pointless to critique something or speak out something when only taking account on the bad aspects.

Funny how this thread was created in 2009, and now its almost 2011, and THREE new people are bashing us.  

1) We allow 300 DPI Free Downloadable prints for all our visitors and members
2) We have a request forum that enables users and visitors to request a cover that they are in dire need for
3) We use Photoshop to create our covers, which eliminate and help restore JPG artifacts.
4) Our members (that I know of) don't troll others websites and randomly start PROMOTING TheCoverProject.

I mean come on guys, it's extremely obvious that you are trying to promote some of us to actually check out your website over at vgboxart.  The fact is, that website - with all its entirety - is crap.

1) You cannot download ANY covers EVEN if you sign up
2) The covers are stolen from other websites like our own and plastered with a new artist name
3) Halo 3 NES box.  I would pay $3,000,000 to buy that game because of how rare it must be that NO ONE has ever heard of it...
4) It's a showcase...

We interact with our users, your site just rates how crappy their covers are.  Personally I would rather be able to DOWNLOAD A F***ING COVER before I would sit back in a chair with a long hash pipe and rate it 3/5 stars and complain on how bad the horrible artist did.  Because thats all I ever see on VGBoxArt, are trolls

Are you blind or do you have an ego that obstructs your vision? We do not scan covers, we do this as a hobby, why is not printing a cover such a problem for you? I seriously don't give a sidways crap about how "High Quality" or "High res" covers your website provides, in the long run: we do this as a hobby. Fake games are part of that hobby, and you are implying none of us have photoshop? Gee, that must be an exclusive program to your website users and you must know how to fully use it, it's not like other people can learn to use it, can they?

Second of all, I am not trolling, learn the definition of trolling(i.e. Saying something absurd to provoke someone, even if it's not entirely true.)

And just because there are a few bad members, it does not mean all of us don't have any talent.

Let's not use their covers as they are no use to us.

Ok lets take a step back.

This thread was created asking the simple question about how our members of our site felt about VGboxart. Many of our members do not like the site because it serves a much different purpose than our site. I don't beleive that the intent of our responses were to say that there is no talent people on the VGboxart. Many of us feel that there is so many untalented people making garbage covers that it overshadows any talent that the few who do make good covers.

Obviously there are completely different intentions for what we aim to do on our respective sites. Our sites intention is to give people consistant high quality covers to place their games in and we take a great deal of pride in ensuring that the covers stay that way. VGboxarts sites intention is to create wild fantasy covers that are goofy or fun to look at on the computer screen ... nothing more. They do not have any quality control and to diehard members here at TCP that is completely against what we want on our site. We have viewpoints on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I do agree that this thread is pointless. We can agree to disagree. Thread locked
