Just checking back into this thread to say my 2.0 dongle is still working fantastic! 1.0 and 2.0 should definitely be considered prototype. But, Zeldaxpro just released new footage of the 3.0 and he's 3D printed a Gamecube plug that will only go in one way and separates the pins. I'll be getting a 3.0 as well. As far as Metal Jesus goes, it's good that he addressed the problem. However, even though I consider 2.0 a prototype, if you don't trip on your cord and yank your entire console off of the shelf, your Cube will probably be just fine.
If you watch his video of it happening, the damn Gamecube is hanging by the cable with the entire weight of the console pulling on the adapter and HDMI cord. And although, if the plug had been probably 3D printed and the pins separated, the Cube probably would have been fine, it did irritate me a little bit that he titled his follow-up video "Adapter killed my GameCube". Actually, the adapter did kill it, thanks to your careless, drunk friend, which is fine, but he's got people thinking it's solely the adapter's fault, which it's not. I've had mine for 6 months and it works perfectly and my Cube is just fine. I also don't jostle my consoles around when I play or stumble around drunk when I'm playing. Go figure, that mine still works.
