GameCube HDMI dongle

Just checking back into this thread to say my 2.0 dongle is still working fantastic! 1.0 and 2.0 should definitely be considered prototype. But, Zeldaxpro just released new footage of the 3.0 and he's 3D printed a Gamecube plug that will only go in one way and separates the pins. I'll be getting a 3.0 as well. As far as Metal Jesus goes, it's good that he addressed the problem. However, even though I consider 2.0 a prototype, if you don't trip on your cord and yank your entire console off of the shelf, your Cube will probably be just fine.

If you watch his video of it happening, the damn Gamecube is hanging by the cable with the entire weight of the console pulling on the adapter and HDMI cord. And although, if the plug had been probably 3D printed and the pins separated, the Cube probably would have been fine, it did irritate me a little bit that he titled his follow-up video "Adapter killed my GameCube". Actually, the adapter did kill it, thanks to your careless, drunk friend, which is fine, but he's got people thinking it's solely the adapter's fault, which it's not. I've had mine for 6 months and it works perfectly and my Cube is just fine. I also don't jostle my consoles around when I play or stumble around drunk when I'm playing. Go figure, that mine still works.  ;D

Technically his careless, drunk friend is solely at fault.   There is no fault on the part of the adapter, as it performed no action of its own to cause any such damage.   It would be like blaming the floor for breaking a piece of glassware that someone dropped upon it.

And entirely in appropriate click-bait title that isn't at all fair to the product >:(

Not the only report of this happening - and if the adapter doesn't fit in the port, and a bump causes it to fry the gamecube, then the product is defective.  No excuse for not having a piece of plastic or something to keep the pins from shifting while in the port.

It, indeed, isn't the only report of it happening. The problem is, we have no idea what those people actually did to their adapter when it failed. Did they knock their Gamecube off the shelf, were they moving it around a bunch while it was running? Now, obviously, the Cube shouldn't fry just from moving it a bit, but it still makes me wonder how their devices failed. I've seen people claim they didn't touch their Gamecube and it still fried. I find those claims hard to believe as you know damn well there are people that abuse their items and don't want to fess up about it. Either way, yes, the adapter plug should have been 3D printed from the start. Version 3.0 looks incredible and I can't wait to get mine. But, my 2.0 is still working flawless.

I just meant that one instance specifically.  I can appreciate that the early designs were simply unfinished prototypes and had some significant flaws :)
