This HDMI thinggie looks very promising alternative to the official component cables:

At the manufactures's site he indicates that after this video the demand boomed, so if you want one prepare to wait.

Yeah, I sent a message a while ago and I'm still waiting back.  Unless I'm missing something, there isn't an order page.  When you click on order, it sets up an email message to express your interest in purchasing it.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I've had mine for a few months and it's incredible. I did a ghetto review a few months back, although, I'm no  MetalJesus, so nobody really noticed it, despite ZeldaxPro linking my review on his official Blog. lol. You can see mine here, as well as direct capture footage at the second link. This is by far the happiest I've been with any recent retro device!

I posted about it in a few of my other forums and although there were some people that were really excited about it, so many people whined about the $100 dollar price tag and just had negative sh!t to say, I sort of just let it fall by the wayside. LOL! Not to say that this community is negative, but I just sort of let it go after listening to some whiners at other forums. HA HA!!

All interesting things that make gaming better are always welcome to be posted.
True some might whine about the price but core center members less.
And compared to the price of the component cables that price is OKish.

So...I don't know if this is his own fault, or just a dangerous side effect of the piece.  Still, but idea of a bump potentially causing a problem is unfortunate.

Basically it's a design issue.  There is nothing that prevents the connector from moving from side to side which can cause pins on the dongle to contact the incorrect pins in the GC.  If the dongle gets bumped and the incorrect pins come into contact, it can short out the GC.  Supposedly, V3 of the HDMI dongle will fix this issue.

In other words, picture the way that the A/V cable plugs into the back of the SNES, N64 or GC.  There is only one way the cable can be plugged in and once it's inserted, it can't move around except to be pulled back out.  The original HDMI dongle didn't have this form factor which allowed it to move around.  I'm assuming that the fix for V3 is to 3D print a new connector that should have the same form factor as the original plugs, and therefore, won't move if the system gets bumped.

It's unfortunate, but I believe with the proper fix, it's still something I might be interested in purchasing.

I think MetalJesusRocks could have been bit less of a dick about this.

the title was a shock news move. Not truly ethical, but he did it to get views.

As bad as it was, the guy that's making it is pushing his product very hard onto youtubers and people with influence in this area. Even though it's still a prototype. It's obviously not near completion and is more a functional proof of concept more than anything. He's taking a ton of orders on something that is clearly not a finished product.

Honestly, I felt Metal Jesus handled it fine.  He is (unfairly) getting a lot of shit from people online because he backed this product in an earlier video.  I think the best thing to do is put out a video explaining what happened and making sure that your viewers have all the information.  He specifically said that he still believes in the product as long as the design issue can be addressed.

What I really can't understand is all the hate Kinsey is getting for tripping over the cord.  How many gamers can claim they have gone their entire lives without tripping over a controller or yanking a console off a shelf because they really got into the game they were playing?

I agree. He didn't blow anything out of proportion, didn't place any unfair blame. It was mostly just facts.
