I like it, but $80 seems pretty steep. Especially considering that they just put out the NES RetroN 1 HD  for only $40.

My DS Cover Requests: Anno 1701, A Witch's Tale, A Witch's Wish, Black Sigil, Dynasty Warriors, Flower Sun and Rain, Mage Knight Destiny's Soldier, n+, Time Ace

This seems like a really dumb idea to me. It's really hard to imagine it being even remotely profitable.

I heard about this the other day.  I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea, but it seems to me that there are many other systems out there that they could replicate with much more demand.  I get that some systems are more difficult to do than others, but still.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

There's also systems from AT Games coming out to "compete" with the Classic NES, with HDMI, save states and all that:

https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/06/11/the-atari-flashback-8-gold-sega-genesis-flashback-set-for-fall-release/

The 2600 version doesn't play cartridges (much like the Classic NES), but the Genesis does. Both have tons of built-in games and include wireless controllers.

By the way, your title is very vague. "Play your old atari 2600 games". Yes, yes I will. (Actually I got rid of em when I got my NES back in 87 or so.)

Even more confusing than the retron 77 are the consoles that play roms only, and are dedicated to a specific console for some odd reason.

In this age of the Raspberry Pi and other micro computers, it seems silly to buy MULTIPLE crummy plastic boxes that each play roms for just ONE console when you could have a ONE little plastic box that plays games from virtually EVERY retro console.

As far as the Retron 77 goes, I should specify that I think it's a dumb idea when you consider the price.  It's waaaaaay too expensive for something that caters to a VERY small portion of the retro community, let alone have the ability to attract non-Atari collectors/gamers. It's just too damned pricey.  We're talking niche of nice.

Yes.

Yes yes yes.
