Hi All!

I'm very close to ironing out all the dems on the Game Gear cases. I have a request! What is the thickness for the PAL Game Gear Superman booklet? I'm thinking 13mm?

Right now, I have the cases dems at 193mm x 129.2mm x 21mm. (Width and Height are the same as a SEGA Card or Genesis game case) the 21mm seems a bit thick in my opinion, but we do have the CodeMaster carts and PAL booklets I am trying to consider. So if any one knows of a really thick Game Gear booklet please let me know! ;)

Great news.  All my gg booklets are pretty thin, so I can't comment on that front,  my only niggling issue is how different the size is in comparison to a retail box.  I like to have my retail boxes displayed along side my cased games.  However, having a custom case that holds the cart and manual comfortably outweighs this, and I'll be for these regardless.

Good news  ;). I was also hoping for the same dimensions as the retail box, but as I don't have any game gear game boxed I think that won't be a problem for me

Awesome to hear!  My question with the dimensions is more along the line of how easy or not it will be to create artwork for them.  If the cases are taller / wider then the retail boxes then will we have to stretch / crop the covers when creating the artwork?

I would suggest we make a frame around the original art rather than trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Not everyone could be pleased. I was hoping that the Game Gear cases would be the same size as the Game Gear packaging/Boxes. Genesis size boxes are way to big for such a tiny cartridge. There's just no way I'd make that kind of space for cases with that Width and Height. It's too much. The Atari Lynx and Game Gear should share similarly sized cases and they're not the size of a Genesis Box.

This was what I was thinking.

My idea was to get the SEGA Card included in this case, however, the thickness for the booklets and or carts is getting almost double the thickness in the spine from the SEGA Card cases. If I'm able to get the spine lower to something like 15mm I'd be happy, but if I end up having to keep it "TOO Thick" then I'm more than likely throwing out the idea of the SEGA Card slot and I'll more than likely be able to lower the height on this case.

NEW QUESTION: If I am able to condense this case, do we want to make it's depth shorter, or keep it the same as the Genesis so the Genesis and GameGear spines will be flush with one another. (Like the CGC and Gameboy cases do)

For me.  Drop it to the size of an actual gg box.

I'm not sure that Sega Cards and Game Gear cartridges are a match. Sega Cards and Hucards are a match (Even though I'd rather have authentic Jewel cases for HuCards). I think if you're trying to match Game Gear with something, it would be Lynx or even the Neo Geo Handheld.

I've been looking forward to unifying the Game Gear section on TCP. I've been looking forward to solid dimensions (for a Game Gear case) to put together a template. I love the work ShadowFox has done thus far. And I appreciate all that he's done for the community. I just want Game Gear sized boxes.

For me, I wouldn't consider that to be super important.  I always put some type of spacer behind my cases so that they all sit flush with each other.  If the cases are the same depth, it is EASIER, but certainly not necessary.

At the end of the day, I would also probably vote for the cases to be the same size as the GG box, even if that means loosing out on getting Sega Card cases.  However, I will add that my vote is coming from someone who owns about 15 GG games, and most likely won't ever buy any more.  So I won't be buying too many cases.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I'm in for 30-40 cases initially, and my gut says same size as the GG box. It would likely bother my OCD that the case was that much bigger than the manual.

+1 to This.  You *might* be able to get WonderSwan or Virtual Boy games in there too.

I know I'm new to the community so my opinion doesn't carry the same weight, but I am also of the opinion that remaining as close as possible to retail dimensions is preferable. I don't own any CIB Game Gear games, but if I ever end up with any, it'd be nice if they fit with the Shadowfox cases.
